Note: Slaves must know the basics of serving because they will be expected to start serving the moment they become a slave here, no exceptions. You do NOT have to memorize this, however. Just use it as a cheat sheet for reference on what vessel to use and so forth.

NO SLAVE of Sand Sleen and/or of the Wastelands of Sand Sleen will be allowed to refuse service based on the “I don’t know how to do that yet” excuse….you will still be expected to serve and dance…just let the Master/Mistress know that you are just learning but will do your best.

I hate this list of how to serve!  Mostly the bazi tea part..... read the books! Its not a Japanese Tea Ceremony its just served in 3 small cups no mention of such pomp and ceremony involved, not even that the cups represent the stages of life.

Hm, just wondering why anyone who has a different opinion screams *read the books* to make clear that the other one has no idea of what he/she is talking about.

You are not in the books, you are in SL Gor. And there the most common version of bazi tea ceremony is the written one above. Of course there is also a quick version, like you described and that is the serve based on the books. Not every serve of bazi is a ceremony, true.

Well, in fact i serve like the Free wants it, its easy as that. If He/She wants a ceremony, He/She will get it. If they want me to serve it in pink boots, i will try very hard to find them.

Live and let live is my opinion. The novels arent a bible, its a travel story. Nevertheless we all should try to be as close to them as possible. But in that minor thing ? Probably Luther likes the serve that way, who knows.
And would you disagree an Ubar ? :-)

EDIT:
Here some quotes:

"She carried a tray, on which were various spoons and sugars. She knelt, placing her tray upon the table. With a tiny spoon, its tip no more than a tenth of a hort in diameter, she placed four measures of white sugar, and six of yellow, in the cup; with two stirring spoons, one for the white sugar, another for the yellow, she stirred the beverage after each measure." Tribesmen of Gor - page 89

"'Make me tea,' I said. Lifting her skirt the girl went to the tent, to make tea. . . 'I feared, when first I saw you,' said the girl, measuring the tea, from a tiny tin box, 'that you had come to carry me off. . . ' 'Perhaps not,' I said. Her hands shook, slightly, on the metal box of tea. . . 'You, yourself,' she said, 'have made me make your tea.' 'Is it ready?', I asked. I looked at the tiny copper kettle on the small stand. . . A small, heavy, curved glass was nearby, on a flat box, which would hold some two ounces of the tea. Bazi tea is drunk in tiny glasses, usually three at a time, carefully measured. . . I set the tea down on the sand, between two mats, beside me. I did not think it would spill. . . 'Serve us tea,' he said. Trembling she measured him a tiny glass of tea. 'The tea is excellent,' I said." Tribesman of Gor - page 139

"Tea is extremely important to the nomads. It is served hot and heavily sugared. It gives them strength then, in virtue of the sugar, and cools them, by making them sweat as well as stimulating them. It is drunk three small cups at a time, carefully measured." Tribesman of Gor -- page 38

"There was a cup and a pitcher of Bazi tea on the counter. Bazi tea is a common beverage on Gor. Many Goreans are fond of it." Kajira of Gor -- page 332

Bazi Tea is mentioned in the books, the ceremony however is mainly an onlinism

*sighs*

It is true, the books are not a bible *gritting her teeth as she admits it*  but I see girls who serve what they learn form a notecard, never straying from that notecard they hold dear.  Follow the books rigidly or a notecard rigidly, either one I don't see as good roleplay.

Onlinisms don't usually bother me, honestly, but for some reason this one is just a pet peeve, I am not suggesting that one should never perform it, or even that I never do ... blah just offering oppinion.

Agree to that. The most important thing is to fulfill the wishes of the owner. My Mistress wants to get her Tea with the ceremony, and i think its a nice thing to show that i am not lazy and that i want to please her. To make it a beautyful ceremony. I dont see anything wrong in that.

On the other hand, if the question is. Does the Bazi Tea Ceremony exists in the books, the answer is surely no, it does not.

And yes, to learn without thinking about, or asking about is stupid learning. We all should try to make our serve and whatever we do unique. To fill it with our heart and spirit. And not to copy&paste serves or dances we saw elsewhere.

I absolutely agree that every serve should be individual .... the list above was meant to give a lil overview to some who don't know anything about serves...
Apart from the wishes of the masters/mistresses to me it is always a day to day thing - so my lil would express her personality as well as her mood she is into on that special day, the ambience which she/he will be surrounded by and so on. And yes I really do hate those copy/paste-stuff and wouldn't tolerate them by my slaves.

well..let me give you my opinion on that. As I stated in the post above I think the first post was meant to be a guideline, just to see as sort of structuring if you like. As the others replied I really think it should be not more not less than this.
I am sorry, but I can't tell about if the serve bible of desire night is good or not coz I don't even know it. If the serves are described in there as a guideline so why not using it.
But please - let me bolster you to show yourself...you are all wonderful individuals, ruled by your own phantasies, feelings just let them flow through your fingers while typing the serve and it will be thrilling to all the Free around...I am sure about that  Wink
So I would suggest, tell the new girls in your role as fg how the serve works, which points they should be aware of, if you know, tell them f.e. the difference between onlinism and the books as Nadja explained with the Bazi Tea Ceremony. They will need to train, get supported and in the end to find their own way to presenting and to reach what their main task is: to please the Free.

There is no such thing as Blackwine, 1st slave only, that would be a bowl of cream and sugar.. think about it.

It's blackwine, or blackwine second slave only, thats it

Hate to burst your bubble Havoc, but there IS blackwine first and second slave, the difference begin that the first slave would take the order and add the cream and sugars, the second slave would simply pour the beverage, therefore indicating that "first slave" menas you want the goodies, "second slave" means you want it straight up, and here's the quotes for ya.

Susan then approached the diners. "Black wine, Masters?'
she asked.
"Yes," said Drusus Rencius.
"Yes," said Publius.
Susan then turned to me and snapped her fingers. "Sheila," she called.
"Yes, Mistress," I said. I took the vessel of black wine, removing it from its warmer, and put it on its tray, that already bearing the tiny cups, the creams and sugars, the spices, tbe napkins and spoons. I then carried the tray, with the black wine, hot and steaming, to the table and put it down there. Susan then, as "first slave," took the orders and did the measuring and mixing; I, as "second slave," did the pouring. Afterward~ I returned the tray 'to the serving table, and the vessel of black wine to its warmer I then joined Susan, kneeling beside her in the vicinity of the serving table.
Kajira of Gor

The two slaves, their chains removed, now returned, and began to serve the black wine. The voluptuous slave of Aemilianus, whom he had not yet named, placed the tiny sliver cups, on small stands, before us. The lovely little slave in bluish gauze, whom I had not yet named, holding the narrow-spouted, silver pouring vessel in a heavy cloth, to retain its heat and protect her hands, poured the scalding, steaming black fluid, in narrow, tiny streams, into the small cups. She poured into the cups only the amount that would be compatible with the assorted sugars and creams which the guest might desire, if any, these being added in, and stirred, if, and as, pertinent, by Aemilianus' slave, who directed the serving.
....
"Master?" asked the girl in yellow gauze, who had been Shirley and now belonged, for the moment nameless, to my friend Aemilianus, of Ar's Station.
"Second slave," I told her, which, among the river towns, and in certain cities, particularly in the north, is a way of indicating that I would take the black wine without creams or sugars, and as it came from the pouring vessel, which, of course, in these areas, is handled by the "second slave," the first slave being the girl who puts down the cups, takes the orders and sees that the beverage is prepared according to the preferences of the one who is being served.
"Second slave," said the slave of Aemilianus
"Yes, Mistress," said the girl in bluish gauze. She was extremely careful not to spill a drop. Black wine, except in the vicinity of Thentis, where most of it is grown on the slopes of the Thentis range, is quite expensive. Also, of course, clumsy slave girls are often whipped. The expression "second slave," incidentally, serves to indicate that one does not wish creams or sugars with one's black wine, even if only one girl is serving.

My bubble is intact, while there is a first slave in the serve, blackwine is never served first slave only, that is, as i said, a bowl of cream and sugar. note it mentions the first slave, yes there is one, but that is not a way of serving it. While second slave only is.

I've always found this discussion interesting.

As the quotes posted here say, first "slave" or often spoken first "serve" is cream and sugar.  And second is straight up black wine.  First of all...  If I've ordered  "black wine first slave"  which I do....  I hope they realize that I want to the black wine as well, as I asked for it.

For the coffee drinkers, which is where Norman got this idea from, many of us like the cream and sugar in the cup FIRST....  and the coffee poured over it...  it helps disolve the goodies.

Just my two coin.
