I received the following in an attachment.  I don't have an opinion one way or the other... just throwing it out there for general information.

"                                                                     ░▒▓ Væringjar Legion ▓▒░

                                                        (preliminary structure, subject to change)

Let’s face it, city life in Gor is going down the tubes, it’s been dying a slow death as all the outlaws and
Vikings run around raiding and plundering each other while the cities wither and die with very few of the
castes being played.  So how can we bring about some use for the old cities and get some serious in-
depth role-play going?  Enter the Væringjar Legion.

The Væringjar Legion’s goal is to build the an empire by uniting the cities and territories of Gor under one
flag (think dark Roman Empire).  The Legion will go to a city, demand its surrender and will add the city
to its empire.  The city will have two representatives added to the imperial senate and those senators
will have a vote on what happens with the Legion.  The actual city will not change at all, no laws will be
changed or command structure altered.  We will not be taking homestones away from the cities.  The
original structure will be kept in place, but the senators and the warriors of the city will join the
Væringjar group as well as staying in their existing groups.  The warriors will become auxiliary.

As the empire grows, so will its enemies.  The Legion will obviously want to destroy any who oppose it,
and will hold tribunals for those who commit crimes against the empire and survive.  How these tribunals
will go is still up for debate, but I would like to see some sort of sport for survival thrown in there for the
guilty.

The Legion’s ranks will consist of the following:

Overlord: The warlord of the Legion.  This is the mastermind behind the political restructuring of Gor.

Second (needs a name): The second in command of the Legion under the Overlord.

Senator:  An official from a conquered city.  Every city/territory will have two Senators.  Political roles.
Just like in RL, Senators can be good, Senators can be bad.  If a Senator wants to do backroom deals,
we're alright with that.

Red Caste:  The primary rank and file of the Legion.  This is the muscle of the group.

Ambassador: These are the politicians and debaters in the group.  Their role will be to influence
political RP.

Black Caste: The Overlord needs a trusted killer or two for protection, and to make sure the senate
stays in-line.  Killers will be allowed to masquerade as Red Caste.

Auxiliary Solder: These are the red caste warriors from conquered cities that will join in on raids to
conquer other cities, or be called in to defend against attacks against the Legion.

Slaves: They have important roles as messengers and spies.  These aren't necessarily your serve and
fur kajirae.  Slaves can be personally owned or owned by the Legion.  Their personal limits will determine
their "use".

The actual "Væringjar Empire" will consists of three groups, Core, Admin and Auxiliary.  The Core group
will contain all the ranks except for the Auxiliary soldiers.  The Admin group will consist of administrators
and will be used for admin communication.  The Auxiliary group is for all the warriors from conquered
territories, this will help cut down on chat spam.

A note about female fighters:  The groups home base is in Midgaard, and they allow free women to fight,
but they do not allow free women to carry a bow.  There must be RP of the woman grabbing the weapon
during a fight.  Females won't make up the army of Legion, but they can still be part of the political RP
and during raids could fight and defend themselves.

Again, this structure is preliminary and is subject to change.  Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Just wanted to give a heads up of what seems to be in some process of organization... before it sprang up and surprised people.

I get strange things from time to time... just passing it on.

*looks around for Koh and Xas and begins to count his gold ... wonders if they will give a discount to kill two people at the same time and if they ask the reason "Because i cant say the word Vaeringjar

Sounds like somebody is not in touch with SL GOR. My perception is its the cities that are growing at the expense of the vikings and outlaws.

Only the Kentucky Fried Chicken Outlaws seem to be growing.. and that must be because they are franchised  Wink

The mark on my forehead is not so much a symbol of who I hunt as it is a testament to my skill. I, as a member of the Black Caste, have not earned this mark easily.

You're welcome, Leith.  It's just part of what I do... collecting information is part of my character's business.  This just happened to be ooc... but because it was something that appears to have passed just the point of "hey, wouldn't it be great if..." stage, it seemed in our best interest to know.
