Okay guys. I suppose you are amongst the happy few, and you use SL Gor as an outlet for other wants... So what I said, in agreement with Dren and Carter, is certainly not a universal statement. But I have the strong belief it does apply for the vast majority of SL members and Gor players.

Nothing wrong with being in SL Gor for those of course (as long as you can and will still role play with those only after role play). I just get 'em elsewhere.

I found it an incredibly fufilling RP experience personally, however I also spent 95% of my RP time in solo RP.  VERY few people noticed that type of RP

No disrespect meant, but I would find it incredibly unfulfilling to spend 95% of my time talking to no one but myself and with no one at all acknowledging what I did (and I wouldn't NC either).  But if it works for you that's fine.

None taken.  I know it wasnt a RP line for everyone.  There were quite a few people I'd interact with and who did notice the RP for what it was "slavelike behaviour".  But for the most part people only noticed that my avi was running from one end of the sim to the other, usually with a water bucket or a board or... some other prop. 

Minimal interaction RP is difficult because we DO come online for personal interaction with other people.  Some have said in that case why dont I just write a book by myself if I spend that much time in solo RP.  I just find it helps me flesh out my character better by having those alone moments. For others they flesh out their characters better with other people, and yet others have the fleshing out already in their heads and its already over and done with. 

Looking back, I'd have rathered the more... outgoing slave model.  I would have gone down the path of the needy craving sex slave.  It would save me a lot of tears for my character when I flesh out some of these "darker" lines with her.  I also have to make sure I dont run too far into the emo slave line and actually give her a REASON for being sad. 

Now she's a FW and I STILL spend time in solo RP, making baked goods for others and affixing tags saying they're from other people.  Its a nice break because some days I cant get OUT of RP.

Bleh, give me sex and violence any day of the week. Those "values" I believe are the ones that are the core of a gorean Warrior's motivations or any gorean man's. They are his natural "male" urges and drifts, and I'm not sure if pushing them aside like a celibatory monk is the way to go either...

First of all sex and violence are the main attractors to the gorean RP genre. Trying to shove it aside as something that is really not the most important part of gorean roleplay probably is something that would cause a decline in people being further interested in RPing in Gor, because I'm quite sure that quality storylines without any conflict or sexuality in them can much more easily be found in other genres.

So I'm pretty much against the sanitation that gorean RP seems to be going through in BtB Gor lately. It's like the local nuns of the cloister have discovered the internet and want to turn Gor into a place where no more sex, no more violence, no more conflict has any place because "it's not fair" that someone has more (man)power than another from the center of their own sim. It reminds me of one of the "elder physicians" of the PCOG group coming to tell me once that our RP was invalid because most of the books of Gor could be found in the children's PG section and there barely was any sex or killing in them.

I think a lot of those answers also come from a lack of knowledge about roles. For some reason - people assume that pleasure slaves do nothing but fuck. And they assume work slaves only do chores and are never used sexually.

I have played a work slave for a pretty long time - one that was never formally trained in any of the sensual arts - and she most likely had more sex then many of the role players who portray a pleasure slave.

No clue why any slave would tell a free woman she is a pleasure slave. My  character would have listed all her non-sexual talents and only under pressure would have admitted she is good in the sack in front of a free woman - many bad experiences with angry fw 

But the people who say  that slave role players usually want to make their role a sexual one are very right. I also think there is nothing wrong with that at all - there are just different ways to go about it - it does not have to be the pleasure slave tract.
