I received this notecard from a newly accepted Citizen. Please consider the validity of what she had to say. I confess I was annoyed by her intense sensitivity as you can see in my reply to her after the nc I posted..but still..we do need to be careful..this kind of chatter is best kept in IM

THE NOTECARD

Lady Sophiaa

I thank you for your consideration of my application to join the citizens there and a possible position as a xxxxxxxxxx.

I take my time with things, due to bad experiences and I watch certain things.  Treve happens to be active in the citizens group so it has given me a good idea of how things work.

This morning while online the group chat opened and this is what I read

[21:48]  xxxxx: i dont know if anybodys here.. but there is a FW in Minus.. "passing thru" on her way home.. if anybody wants to slap a collar on her
[21:48]  xxxxx: shes aware of the rules
[21:48]  xxxxx: I doubt she'd make a good assistant, otherwise I just might *smiles*
[21:49]  Athena Laa: lol
[21:50]  Izzabella Romano: hhhhmmm seems she has an unfair advantage, since her whereabouts is posted in a group chat
[21:50]  xxxxx: huh?
[21:50]  xxxxx: oh
[21:51]  xxxxx shrugs
[21:51]  xxxxx: I was dealing in messengers scrolls... *sends this off to the xxxxx*

In my opinion this should not happen.  A chance meeting, someone patrolling the land coming across her.
But to have it posted in a group chat that she is there, is rather unusual, at least to me, and in my opinion unethical.

In light of what I have observed I think I shall pass on the option of moving to Treve.    Even though the FW knew the rules and the risk, her whereabouts should not have been posted in a group chat leading people directly to her and resulting in a collaring.

I shall explain my reasons also to xxxxx as I know he wanted me to be a part of Treve and has tried to get me there for months now

I wish you and your city well.

MY OFFLINE IM RESPONSE

[2:24]  Sophiaa Farella: that is fine dear..if you are so sensitive to occasional errors in rp judgements and are looking for perfection in a city and it's residents..I agree..Treve is not for you..and I wish you good luck in your search for Eutopia..even though i know it doesnt exist..and..just so you know..I will discuss the issue with the wretched offenders

lololol... while i agree with the sentiment, we pretty much all are guilty of this and i would like to take a bet the same is true of practically every city... the odd slip in IM during a raid "2 to your left!" etc etc it happens, it doesnt really affect the rp in any huge way, one still needs to rp having found these ppl and such... I suspect given her reaction that we may have had a lucky escape and as for her informing xxxxx that she no longer is moving here, well to my knowledge he is taking an extended break anyways... so i wouldnt be suprised if that was more to do with her not coming if the truth was known.. it was intended for her to FC him, she applied and he bolted...

Tal wonderful friends of Treve, and Carter.

There are so many opinions on how a group chat should be used. In the event of a battle, coordinating moves, strategies and the like, is equated to the use of a radio in our military strategies.  For some it is an absolute no, never. I won't use IMs for any sort of RP influence with exception.

First, if there really is no other means to get the message there, I will RP it in the IM that I am sending a messenger, that a bird has been delivered, and detail out the message, envelope et al.

I will use IM to see if you're there before I show up to deliver said message in person.

Second, there are times that no matter how much we want to NOT use IMs, they have to be. You don't have a piece of clothing torn from the body left on the ground as a clue and if you are the only person there at the time, how is any one ever going to find you. 200+ sims to scan, isn't feasible.

Times we will post in group chat that we have left a note on someone's desk, stabbed to a wall/door, whatever, some indication of where we are/have gone to and at what time.

Courtesy, well everyone should know better than to snipe at someone or behind someone's back in group. It's just tacky, shows a complete lack of respect or decorum.

Everyone's tolerance level is different and each person has a right to their opinions, whether or not you like the sound of them. We just need to find our tolerance level I suppose.

Birds Birds Birds... Roll Eyes

back when i ran the show at Jasmine Falls there was a rule on the sim.....NO BIRDS!

While impossible to police in all reality, we had no tolerance for occurances when a raid happened, and suddenly everyone in the group showed up at home....or a panther was downed in her camp alone and suddenly half the tribe ends up at the TP point.

We also kept tight reigns on the groups in the sim.  I was always in the groups for the purposes of group doors and building stuff, but I watched the chat.  If "X" said, "I'm down in Aria come save me"  I would jump in and remind them that if they wanted to have a group on Jasmine...they would not use that kind of behavior to get out of RP.

Slaves are always complaining of being bored....try something different.....RP with a slave!
You are capped and jailed...there is always a kajira around...beckon her to you...lure her with promises of whatever...they will LOVE the attentnion and appreciate the opportunity to do something besides sit and look pretty.  Ask her to find a slave from your homestone and tell them you are capped!
