@ Poison My point was, and was in agreement with the earlier poster, By the Book only exists in two places. In John's books, and John's mind. Any were else you find it is flawed and incorrect on some point or another. If you look for perfection you are going to be disappointed. I can go farther then that also and say not even John would get it right if he was running a sim. Like any writer that continues to write about the same subject over the course of time he may change his mind about some thing or just forget a point, and then the next thing you know there is a contradiction in the books. I've seen it in every author I have ever read. So if John can't get it perfect when writing it, even if he was running a sim, it would be flawed.
My point is about the spirit and basics of Gor. The list I gave is a list of points that ruin these basics. They are very easy to avoid and SL-Gor with the respect of the basics, codes and cultures, is easy to play and perfectly enjoyable. And when you respect them, even with the few details that you cannot respect as SL-Gor is a role play world, you RP really by the books. But people have tendency to focus only on the D/S aspects of Gor, and the political intrigues, the notions of rank, the inequalities, the importance of castes and home stone are commonly treated as details without importance. Most people are unable to think Gorean when they role play, They role play with their Earth mentality.
And yes Im disappointed by that I see so often. But I wont force myself into RPs which ruin my immersion, I prefer to stop to rp.
