Actual instances of "be well" in the books refers to  good.  "It is well," instead of "that's good," for instance.

I had this quote on the House of Seginus forum in my Gorisms section, I think its the one you were thinking of Delaynie where a slave said goodbye to her friends first, then the master.

Quote
"I wish you well, Tuka," she had said. "I wish you well, too, Tupita," I had said. Mirus had then crouched near me and kissed me. "I wish you well, slave," he had said. "I wish you well, Master," I had said.

Thank you Eela, that's the one. I knew it was there somewhere, slaves saying goodbye to each other first.  Smiley

Ah yes, I have many times bid farewell to my slave friends before doing so to the free and I have not been corrected on it so far. (been lucky I guess). I think the difference is the fact that when your actually conversing with one another as slaves, and it's time to go, it's only natural to wish each other well first, then wishing the Master or Mistress well secondly. Though I hear other girls complain they were reprimanded in doing so. Such a trivial issue when all mean well in caring they stay safe by each passing day.

In Mariners of Gor, "I wish you well was used." But, wait till you see how much the now slave Alcinoe, former Lady Flavia of Ar gets away with even as a slave. Excitement, drama and humor.

Anyway,
I wish you well.

SL goreans, both free and slaves, are very lazy in general. that is why they say "be well" and avoid the long phrase "I wish you well"!

saying that it is an order and no slave can ever give orders to a free, makes no sense in this case as it is no order! grammatically it is only a deep wish that the resp person might be well.

but anyway, other have even more problems, when roleplaying in other languages. you are lucky that the books were written in english. i remember quite intensive discussions with germans and italians...they are even too lazy to translate the greetings into their own language! whenever I did it, as a kajira, i usually was corrected  Angry Angry Angry
