As a University student, every semester involves the obligatory perusal of Rate My Professors: http://www.ratemyprofessors.com.  I do this so that I can invest in what classes are worth taking.  This website features ratings by actual students and I usually trust what my fellow student says regarding a certain instructor and whether or nor I should take a certain course.  In my research of Gor, I learned that John Norman (aka John Lange) is a philosophy professor at Queens College and my curiosity got the better of me one day.  I decided to see if he still taught and if there were any ratings about him.  Lo and behold, there are:

Funny website.

In my time we had an awfull professor, an arrogant piece of shit. Unlucky for him famous author Willem Frederik Hermans was one of the lectors at our faculty, and he wrote brilliant satire (Onder Professoren), in which he completely ridiculed this ass hat prof.

She smiled. "I have grown fond of the smell of bosk," said she. Kamchak smiled. He held his hand to the girl. "Ride with me, Aphris of Turia," said Kamchak of the Tuchuks. Nomads of Gor

A little under average. That probably means he's genius. Most professors, I have noticed, when they are awesome and authoratative, suck in the ratings.  I chalk it up to years of giving the same lectures over and over; you can tell by the tone of voice when they are bored.  One of my anthro professors was unapproachable, talked too fast, went off on tangents, lost his train of thought during lectures, graded hard on exams, didn't give clear answers to questions, didn't keep his office hours, and, in a major conflict of university and department interest, used his own books as texts. But he was the industry expert in what he was teaching, and everyone knew it. His books on Indonesia alone were like 15 titles, his total publications I don't know, I estimate maybe over 50? Anyway, despite his lack of verbal focus and helpfulness, his classes were always the first to fill - eager students will put up with shortcomings to get free lecture and office time with experts.  Don't let ratings influence what classes you want to take. If you have a question, ask your friends who have taken the classes and spent time with the professors you're looking into. Ask to see their syllabus and ask what the class was like. That is a far better way then an anonymous survey where people can say or do whqatever they like without any balance checks whatsoever.

Awesome guy, Found his gor series and now addicted to it. Nice job Mr. Norman.

I am a mixture of fear, relief, and amusement all at the same time.  LOL.
