Not sure if I am posting this in correct place on boards but I needed to rant somewhat. And to be quite honest, I'm really not sure how to word what emotions are going through my head right now. 

Over my time in Gor, through various mediums (Irc, Yahoo etc and SL too), I've noticed a forever growing trend where some slaves are just completely outright ignored as though they weren't even present. It disgusts me, and pretty much explains and sums up why, even in my own home, I find myself refusing to enter the city anymore unless with my Owner or heading to serve specific people who I know will acknowledge my presence within a roleplay.

This is by no means a dig at my home in Port Cos, the home is a good home, full of wonderful people, but there are those too who refuse to even acknowledge I even exist within roleplay. I will greet Free respectfully, I will attempt to start roleplay with them, and basically I get ignored outright, or "snorted" at and ignored that way. And to be honest, its pathetic and stupid and annoying the sh*t out of me to point I just dont feel like being around those people anymore.

I suppose my main rant is regarding why people find it funny, and okay to just flat out ignore another roleplay just because they happen to be roleplaying as their lessors, as slaves and not as FW. I can understand FW in books were snotty when came to slaves, and were arogant and hated female slaves, but damn... even the snottiest of Fw in the books acknowledged a female slaves presence... even if to tell her she was disgusting trash.

This one roleplayer is close to removing herself from gor perminantly if she constantly gets ignored in roleplay. People wonder why im so solitary, quiet, and I spend over 9 hours a day STOOD ALONE at the gallery or at my Owners rented home... well now im sure they'll know.  I'm tired of the crap.

meh. i really dont get why people think its ok to ignore slaves just cause they choose to serve those they love. and some of the best roleplayers are the bloody slaves.

Edit: I stand corrected. if your a complete slut to the men opening your legs for coin or what not then sure you get all the attention in the world and more... but slaves like me who remain celebate both by personal preference and rl agreement with my Owners, get ignored :/

I am fed up of just being told "paga" or "blackwine girl" and once I push myself to emote those serves..what do I get at the end of it "You can see to your chores" and this type of RP happens in almost empty sims..Currently I am on a Gor break for a week, as I deciding whether or not I even want to return to Gor

There are so many people out there, that hide away in there homes, or sky boxes or just dont bother coming onto the sim. So I remove myself from Gor..and then get stick because I wasnt around when I was needed. Im sorry but if I go OOC, theres a very slim chance, I'll come back just to serve a drink and then be ignored again

I get that I chose the slave as my character to portray in SL, that doesnt mean as a RPer I deserve the right to be ignored because of that choice

I'm not the type of girl that just enjoys sitting around, emoting to herself because theres nothing else to do. And when I get bored I create trouble..Not good trouble either..I called a group of FW crazy the other day and then ran to the safety of the city Tavern to avoid a beating. I'll throw fruit at Free from the tops of buildings or I'll spill drinks..Just to get added RP on top of already boring RP

Sage... i know you are dork.... Your great lol. funny... and a great rper and i love spendin time with you, but besides you and maybe 4 others, rest just dont even see me as existing. And to be quite honest thats just fine and dandy, cause if they cant even take time to say tal slut, then i cant be bothered to be aruond them either.

And as mah sister in bondage said - i too am tired of serving people just to have the drink taken and told to carry on with chores without so much of a thank you , its not like they pay attention during the serves anyhow, at least, not all do, and yet expect you to spend 20 mins or so writing a novel worthy serve fulla flowers and crap for them, not that they notice. I could si mply be typing "grabs the blackwine thats magically on the side of the counter and shoves it in front of them" and they'd probably not notice the difference. Seriously....

I took a 2 year break on my "main avatar"... yes Spirit is an alt... and im not ashamed to admit i have alts. two avs to be precise that are actively used in SL now-days, tho my main is not gorean anymore... she took a 2 year hiatus from Gor after becoming RL owned, and well, she just never saw point in returning. And to be quite honest, had my Owners not returned to Gor, I probably wouldnt have ome back into Gor... because Gor... to me... has changed too much. Its more about the Sparta crap then it is about roleplay in most places. Fighting and Raiding is the rage, roleplay is on a backburner, and sure theres some AWESOME roleplayers in Cos, and im pleased I came to know them, I just wish they'd include us slaves more... too many times im seeing slaves knelt in a corner on their own and its sad... I know how it feels to be a loner.... and things like this just dont help at all.

I would always magically conjur up things in my serve rps... even if it was just to see if the rp was being read. At least I was amusing myself by doing so    Now I just stand being the grand duchess in the Port with the prettiest slave ever keeping me company

Whatever the cause, it seems to not be confined to just one or two sims. My FW companion and my slave both complain to me about the very same thing. So I'm not convinced its limited to class. Maybe its just some prefer to RP only with those in their friends and family circle?

I'm going to be curious to follow this thread and see if anything enlightening comes out of it.

I have also noticed this trend, Spirit, and I've noticed it comes more from the sims where the players are old school.  Some of the Gorean veterans have a problem seperating IC from OOC and really look at you as if you don't matter. Hence they use you to serve and send you on your way.. I mean, that's what you're there for, right?  By the older standards it is. The newer roleplayers and the people who seek more diverse, immersive roleplay will look to do something more with slaves. Now, not to say that it only occurs among veteran players, but that is where I have had the most problem personally.

I am so fed up with being ignored when I emote something and am ignored, I outright say, in chat, "are you kidding me? I just emoted to you and you're going to walk away?"  The people who expect you to serve and disappear are the same people who are going to get in your IM and metagame you because they don't have the guts to dom you publically, which is their legal roleplay right. I'm short on patience, and I've come to the conclusion that if they can't be curteous enough to return my roleplay, they don't deserve immersion, and should be called on how shitty their behavior and roleplay manners are.

I accept  emotes to the effect of, "/me looks through the slave as though she isn't there. she is just a slave, her opinions don't count, and then he walks away."  It's still a lil bit crappy to be bounced like that, but it is at least by the book and an acknowledgment that an emote was directed toward someone. It is also an acceptable action; many free have no reason to interact with slaves. Especially free women, who often hate slaves.  But to ignore someone outright is just bad roleplay.  We're s'posed to know that being ignored is them ignoring us, but it's not roleplay. It's using the SL interface, and the effect comes off as careless of the other person's effort. When in doubt, free people, make the effort to ignore someone if you don't want to play with them, that way it doesn't look like you walked away carelessly.

Edit to add: #When you just walk away without saying anything, we have no idea if your emote got lost. SL eats text regularly. There's nowhere to go in roleplay whe nyou're stopped dead by silence.

After settling into the Inn, my escort had to log, so I wandered the city only to have 3 free women port out as I approached and two slaves flip their meter to afk upon approach. It is an issue for women in general in Sl Gor, we are lacking the power of the prim penis.    

I have to say, not all women in Gor are like this, I have had some outstanding and amazing roleplay with female characters, both slave and free. I only wish there were more of us out there willing to roleplay.

BTW, the same slaves the flipped AFK, came back as soon as a man ported to the sim. So, we are all faced with challenges in our roles.

This is equally unacceptable. I tend to approach women for service first just cuz I get tired of slaves ignoring them. It's like they think serving women makes them a lesbian or something.  Of course if a man needs serving later, I will usually defer ,after all men come first. But I try my best not to ignore women.

In Ar, we have a Basic Conduct code that's part of our rules that verses about not ignoring slave roleplayers and treating them with respect in IMs and without assumption that the character crosses over to ooc. Hit me up, I'll send a copy. So far, so good.

Agree completely, it is an issue. I always go out of my way to offer roleplay aside from serving to slaves. I feel for them, they spend their time sitting about ignored or waitressing. On my home sim, I am often in the company of slaves (bonds actually) and we have come up with some great rp and fun lines that open doors for them for RP aside from just serving.

When it is realized that we all make an investment of time and effort here, when we are all respected mutually on an ooc level for those efforts and the time spent, then the problem might be solved. Until then, -I- think females view other females as just competition, regardless of their chosen role.

As for slaves being ignored, what a shame. Most of the slaves I know are creative and brilliant roleplayers...a true loss for anyone that chooses to overlook and ignore them.

I made a challenge thread here on the forums for people to post there role-play with slaves that was outside of serves...   The thread died. Slaves do so much for Goreans... serve, cook, clean... I think most would dry up and blow away if they did not have a slave... yet outside of the... get me a drink.... what I see, slaves sitting and being ignored.  Once I get resettled on the new project sims and my camps up; I am going to gather a few slaves, have them as Game Master for the sim to create storylines just for slaves and free to play together.  Hopefully it will catch on and spread to other sims.
