I made a challenge thread here on the forums for people to post there role-play with slaves that was outside of serves...   The thread died. Slaves do so much for Goreans... serve, cook, clean... I think most would dry up and blow away if they did not have a slave... yet outside of the... get me a drink.... what I see, slaves sitting and being ignored.  Once I get resettled on the new project sims and my camps up; I am going to gather a few slaves, have them as Game Master for the sim to create storylines just for slaves and free to play together.  Hopefully it will catch on and spread to other sims.

Thank you, Xaz.  You and the other BC are outside the norm and -always- make the role play worth attending and joining ... as fellow players ... not tree stumps.

There are some fantastic role players that get brushed over, ignored, dismissed, and most unfortunately ...  disrespected.  In character, it is appropriate to treat slaves as slaves but it is important to remember that the person -playing- the slave is entitled to the same role play opportunities as any other character. 

I have personally experienced some dreadful treatment from FM and FW who seem to have the creative juices of a swamp gnat and the extent of there efforts to involve slaves are the usual waitress commands.  Sure, serving is a major part of slave interaction but for the love of Mary, I cannot understand why more is not done with slaves to push -stories- ahead.  There are countless options!  Why don't people use them?

While I was playing a High Caste FW, I always made an effort to not only include but USE slaves to further a plot OR build off of or from one SHE had going.  Only once (1 time) did I dismiss a slave away from an active scene BUT it was necessary IC to have a private conversation about something "sneaky" that was going on.  She left but she could/should (??) have hung around to evesdrop.  See my point?

On a lighter note - and to balance the scales - I have witnessed and been a part of some thrilling role play during my time as a slave character.  Everything from dances to interactive chores with other slaves, to travel and deep, dark adventures AND the Free I have encountered, for the most part, while rping with me, have been GREAT.  My experiences (as a slave) at Teletus, for example, were above expectation AND the responsiveness, engagement and interaction with/towards me by the Free ... just wow! 

Anyway, it is a shame that some amazing people who offer wonderful role play ... get ignored.  Even still, we should not allow the ignorant, selfish behavior of a few dopey people ruin our fun.  Press on, push forward and keep being excellent.  Those who DO appreciate quality role play will take notice and YOU have the same rights they have.  If you come across a pitiful, boring FW or FM who cannot rp their way out of a salt shaker, dismiss THEM and go spend your time doing something you enjoy.

Syndel, thats not exclusive to Ar, thats just a given, and for as long as I can remember this has always been a common complaint no matter where you go.

It is not just confined to slaves, I have had experiences where the only role play a free man is comfortable with is all but furring a slave in my company. Although that really does lend itself to some great role play for Mirella!!

Our plans to get the slaves owned by Black Caste is when we launch the Black Court next month we have worked out some roles for slaves to play.  This will open a whole new area of roleplay for them. We even have a few of the older slaves owned longer in chats to come up with storylines around this new role-play for them.   I do not see why each caste could not do something like that as well.

I got this a lot when I was a slave too. It's been going on for at least 5 years. It'll keep going on as long as there's role-players that don't separate IC and OOC well or that don't have the creativity or experience to know what to do.

Write off the ones that ignore you and embrace the ones that don't. It's really all that you can do.

I remember selling one slave I owned to a City that I wanted Intel on.  She was instructed to count Rarius, draw maps, figure out where valuables were hidden, and when she was done, I walked in, Killed her NPC Guard, and stole her back.  She had really fun RP, I got my Intel... and Made 4 Silver in the Process...

Another time I held a Contest in Treve Called the "11 kisses"  I took an obscure reference in the books on slave training, and Made up 11 Kisses they had to produce and demonstrate to their Masters.  I had them NC the Rp and it was judged for a Gift card prize.   I Must say I got some interesting responses to that one. 

Then There was the Time i caught Nettle swiping paga from one of my barrels, and Decided to as Punishment, i would get her Piss Drunk and make her run around Minus until she puked... Or the whole, "baby Urt" thing she did where i tried to force her to eat a live baby urt... Come to think of it, if you want to be  slave that can generate her own RP... Take a lesson from Nettle... That gal is Zany...

Really the point of this is to show that Creating RP isn't all that hard.. we have 30 Books worth of Material to draw on, and Generally I think if we let ourselves go a little with an Idea.. show everyone around us that we ARE crafters of lucid and desirable tales... they will come to us for or stories, rather than us complain that they won't let us RP with them.

This has been a 'trend' of sorts that I've noticed, and others I've spoken to.  But yes, we're working with Xaz on some ideas using the 'Game Master' concept to avoid individiual burn-out, and so that new ideas or new spins on the same old same old can liven up what has become too common and boring for many people who've been around a while.

Nice to know the BC makes efforts to give its slaves roleplay. From the BC girls I know, being a BC slave is an extremely challenging role. Making slave play a caste matter - it could work Xaz, but others would say it's mixing IC and OOC since slaves have to serve everyone regardless of the free person's caste. On another note, the slaves I know are perfectly capable of making roleplay for ourselves, as long as it's not interrupted.  For example, I love a good slave squabble, but lately the free men get in and tell you to shut up.  One particularly interesting bit with a good roleplayer I know got interrupted 3 times, so we never got to find out where the rivalry went. Neither of us felt motivated to continue the fight or the story becauase we were certain the second we started fighting, a free man was going to pull us apart and cage us, and not even give us anything to do in the meantime. 

Tip #2 for free people from this slave: If you don't have anything for the slaves to do, let them alone to be slaves. Slaves had free time to do their own stuff.
