Just a discussion topic =) not a rant i promise! xD

I've noticed a growing 'trend' where Warriors can be downed multiple times in a row during a fight, and walk away unscathed, wanting to furr, or fight in arena, or go to the tavern afterwards to drink and furr the night away... Im curious, is those of the warrior caste truly indestructable? I thought injury roleplay was part of the 'realism' in Gor in SL, besides does it not also give the phyisicians something to do besides sitting outside the infirmarys in their rockin chairs lookin cute and fluffeh an huggable? xD

FWIW. A kuri attacked Cos last night... and a Warrior was downed probably 3 times or so during the whole thing... and He walked away unharmed... yet, I get scratched by the same Kuri's claws and wind up bleeding out in the infirmary.

I suppose its something in the water?  Huh

It gets worse.  Apparently some people can be stabbed through the heart, beheaded, and their bodies devoured by sleen, but then they can magically teleport to another city 2 minutes later and are completely fine as though nothing happened.

Ah don't get me started.

Time and time again I can watch a warrior get riddled with arrows and then just wake away. I like role-play... when I am attacked I role-play the injury. Many times I have gone to Physcians with a arrow sticking out of my arm... or a gash to my stomach causing by a sword.

My throat was cut in RP 3 years ago.  I RPed the injury out for a full week.  I still wear a scar across my neck and speak with a rasp to this day.  If I get injured in battle I go to the Physician.  I don't get those that ignore injuries or death and act as if nothing happened.  To me it's poor RP.

See, now you got me started!

This is due to the old routine of what do you want to spend your time roleplaying and how.
Speaking from knowing too many warriors and having been a physician-most of injured/combatants have come off an adrenaline rush of combat-yeah they get that way real life, it IS a rush of endorphins to fight, and they generally don't feel like having their avatar laying on some cot while someone else post endless paragraphs over how the wounds are  treated  stitched up etc.
Warriors tend to want to burn off that excess energy doing something else, or talk about how it happened, what they did, what the opponent did, etc. in the combat.

I am going to pick on the Green Caste some here too. There have been times such as I have had 2-3 arrows stuck in me and have been taken to a Physcian of Gor... and like magic 15 min later I am all better.

Xaz can attest to me. I went as far as to rp growing my hair. I ve a gash down my thigh and calf from my second death and a scar over my left eye where i wear my eye patch for my first death. To me a DEADLY or serious injury in battle designates a scar.

I think dove in on the right path there.  A lot of the time, after a raid or conflict, the heart is racing the blood is pumping and you feel the excitement of the moment.  Following that... You sit on a bed and are more or less forced to lay still and let others role play around you.

I will occasionally play injured, after some raid event, but I won't all the time.  Maybe I should more often, as some GREAT RP has come from those moments.  Trouble is' it often feels like you are taking a nap immediately after running a marathon.

The one that always gets me is this... someone just shot my ass up with a ton of arrows.. or bashed my head in with a sword butt or slashed me down.. Im bubbled.. they come ta bind me an then tell me that my role playing any injury from the fight is 'self inflicted'.. and they wont recognize it as an injury... WTF?Huh??

So basically these people claim that unless 'they' role play injuring me in open chat..I aint injured.. ok.. well if thats the argument...then I ain't bubbled either..cause unless I'm injured in some way there is no way I would just be layin there waitin for them to come bind my ass up to drag off..

End tiny tirade

Honestly I don't blame them for FTB any injuries rather than being doused with green paga and having magic salve rubbed all over them.  I RP as a Physician and I have zero desire to RP an injury with the majority of physicians in the role or worse the "healing kajira".

Exactly Kaitlin, Lax
People roleplay when they want to roleplay a situation because they feel it's important to them. They want to invest the time, effort and consideration of the roleplay storyline to their character.
Like Blade, Xaz, Randal posting their injuries and what they did. They took it to that point because it was important to them.

Working with tarns/thalarions,damage scripts and falling off the towers and stairs constantly I could go and see the physicians every single day.

I did at one point, Every day I would show up for bandages, salve, splints etc. then go back to work in my tarn house-bandaged. I forced the physicians to be the equivalent of slaves doing the same drink/serve over and over and over. They started avoiding me after a week of this. YES I'm heavily scarred under these robes.

I had warriors do this too, -we did a conspiracy as warrior caste.  bandages became a fashion statement, every.single. warrior in Treve had bandages on from constant fighting (2007/2008) and there came a shock to the free women/slaves for a week when men refused to go fight/rescue/roleplay with  others because "we're too injured" and spent personal recovery time with their FC/slaves, talking to each other in warrior hall, etc.etc., and not interacting with the rest of the population.

Another opinion: My free woman alt is a physician. The "miracle healing" comes from people who over-roleplay their injuries. If you've been riddled with arrows or if you have a couple of deep-seated war arrows, we can't save you. but no one wants to die from doing their duty in battle, so you slap on the "rare" but all powerful healing slave, inside the wound to heal the tendons, stitch up the cut and throw another slayer of healing salve on the skin, and presto - you were NEVER injured. It's better to FTB, or if you want to RP injuries, get hit by some general shooting arrows which can be backed out of the injury rather then war arrows, which are barb headed and will rip you to shreds and leave permanent damage.  In other words, don't overdo your injuries unless you really are looking for death.

Like most I have enough assorted arrows to wear - in my leg, in my arse; I have bloody cuts and wounds to wear after a raid; an eye patch; bandages; and while I hate when my tarn gets taken down I do rp it's loss for a week or so until I can buy a new one after saving up my coppers.  It is true that minor little things should be over when they are over but when their is a major rp...play it out.

I am not the best fighter in the world.. my usual contribution in a raid is to act as the arrow magnetic.

I have once or twice attached arrow prims all over my body and hobbled into the hospital a few times looking like a porcupine... and the RP has been fun...

But... if I went to the physician everytime I was downed... jeeze I would never see anybody else or anywhere else other than a bed in an infirmary !!!
