Recently I have been having a look at the GE sims and giving them a try (I know, hellish place for raids!)  My question is what weapons as a slave am I allowed to have, am I allowed to fight to defend the city as the free do?  and also where is the best place to purchase and learn to use these properly? I am fed up hiding every time the enemies arrive...yikes

I would suggest reading the sim rules, often they detail what weapons slaves are allowed to weild on your sim.  Failing that, ask one of the admins, or even one of the other slaves on your sim.  They can probably even tell you where you can them too.

I haven't ever used any, so can't say what they are like, but I think Tala Nagy used to have some, and Harbringer too, but I could be wrong.

Good luck ! Smiley

First I have to say - Get used to it. It is just not very plausible for a slave - unless she wishes to get out of that city - to go out of her way to protect the Home Stone. Now as to what a slave would use if she did feel - she should do something is - whatever comes before her hands. She could throw stones (although I really despise those slaves that throw them when they are standing in the grass that didn't hold like 1001 stones.) take a pan and slam it on the attackers head, in hope that one blow would atleast buy her some time to run.

My slave had several weapons of Primus that were based on the understanding that those things might be around, like a broom, a fishing rod, a shovel, fruit, stones. I never used them unless I was ordered to use them by my Master and only if these items were around so my slave could emote taking it and using it.

But in the end - as a slave you are NOT allowed to carry any weapon, but that doesn't mean you can't put things to use that are around. So if you are sweeping the floor and you are cornered, why not take a swing with that one ? Or when you are preparing a meal, take the hot pan and give it a good go.

So if you deside to take any of the items in your reach - be prepared for the consequences. Another could take it different than your intent and end your life. Is it fair ? No, but than again life of a slave was hardly ever really fair.

Since you're talking about GE, we'll throw all the BTB answers out of the window.

Ala gave good advice - check your sim's rules. It should have it spelled out in there what the allowed weapons are for slaves. Back in my days of playing ninja-fighting-kajira, we were allowed rocks, brooms, sticks and slingshots, so long as they did slave damage and not arrow or sword damage. We could defend the city just as the warriors did but not go on raids. Some places do take their slaves on raids, so you'll need to find that out from your rules or by asking the sim admin/mods or your groups leader.

I always preferred Primus over the other places but you might find that you'll need to experiment with a few makers before you find the one that works best for you and the system you're playing on.

Once you get your weapons, practice until your clicky finger falls off. Find a Tarl, put him on the easiest settings and use your rocks/slingshot against him (melee doesn't work on him). As you get better, bump his settings up harder.

Over time you'll get better. When I played a slave, I took out three panthers that had just surprise attacked and downed all the free in the tavern. Of course, that was before slave damage rules and I couldn't do that now if my life depended on it, but it was fun and made the free all suddenly like me.  Grin

Oh, and you might want to stay away from snowflakes that do damage and other silly weapons like that. A lot of sims won't recognize those.

Since we are talking GE I'd suggest the primus slingshot.  I had quite a bit of fun with the pink one besting a warrior or two with a bow.  Grin  Efficient and stylish.

That's the one I used, along with some hair pins they have for slaves to jab people with.

I'd stay away from blowguns though Starr. Some sims allow them for slaves but most don't.

You're on a GE sim. Just tuck them in your "belt" or down your panties like I did.  Wink

You'll have greater range with the slingshot but the blow gun fires faster. When you're close up, use the blow gun. When you have distance (more then 30m) use your slingshot. Once you get pretty good with your blow gun, you can beat a bow up close because they fire so fast. Just watch for swinging swords and prepare to have the guy you just downed get pissed for losing to a slave with a blow gun.

It's making me glad I left GE. It pained me to write "Once you get pretty good with your blow gun, you can beat a bow up close because they fire so fast."

Ah my bad ... erase my reply ... since well ... just arm yourself with pots and pans, brooms and sticks ... Primus - they are melee and ranged.

If you're a barbarian and graduated from high school, you should at least be able to figure out how to make a black powder grenade... if you're gonna get offed for using a weapon against a free, you might as well make it count and blow the bastards to the three moons.

I had a bag of vegetables from Primus that I would use for fun OOCly. It attached to my back I believe, like a knapsack or something.  I think they did like 30% damage maybe? But to be honest slave weapons...unless you are really, really good, are not a match for bows or swords.

Each GE sim is different too. I think in Skerry you still can't use a sword or bow.
