Weapons News and Recommendations

I know some of you like the new AC G4 bow, which is very controversial because it can be modified. I know some people say there is a way to cheat and slip in other arrows that perform better than GM standards. Many sims have banned this model because of this, but I have never seen any proof it can be done. I did ask the maker for a copy so I can test it and see if i can make it cheat. However, i have not heard back from him. I will send another request and if he ignores it I will ban this bow as well. The G3 is fine--I have tested that one and there doesn't seem to be a problem.

It does take some time to test all the weapons and I am not going to pay for every one so the maker can get the privilege of selling them. If a maker won't cooperate, they will be banned. It also makes me suspicious about their motives if they don't want them tested.

My weapons recommendations list now has several changes. Here are the ones I like best:

Bows:

PsG (Bow of Treve is PsG): The fastest legal bow I have tested and works best on terrain

Primus: Almost as fast and works better in heavy lag. This also has an arc feature I like that really helps in close distance fighting

AC G3: Not banned in as many sims as the G4 and is almost as fast as the PsG. Some people like the "feel" of this one better than the Primus.

LR: If we are going to be BtB, we should all have a crossbow. LR makes good bows and are accepted everywhere.

Swords:

Primus: The fastest ones I have tested at .55 delay and 2.5 m reach. Many swords are only set to defensive stance only, which is a longer reach--2.8m, but slower at .65 delay. I have found that faster is more likely to win than reach. Use a spear if you are great at keeping a distance. the new sword of Treve will be a Primus. the only flaw is that it is not as well scripted for GLM as Navar (H & S) or Stygian.

Stygian: almost as fast as Primus, but better scripted for GLM. You need to get a separate shield.

Navar (H & S): Almost as fast as Primus, but again, it is better scripted for GLM. I prefer Stygian for GLM, because H & S has more problems in heavy lag. However, H & S comes with a shield. You have to get a separate one for Stygian.

Eve Mikazuki: This used to be my favorite, mainly because it performs well and lag, plus, I have to admit it, the animations just made me look so much cooler than everyone else in front of the ladies. Sadly, it is not as fast as the Primus.

Make sure you type /1 GLM when you got to a GLM sim with your H & S or Stygian to get the maximum benefit.

Daggers:

The only thing I have ever used a dagger for is rp--cutting binds, etc. You can get a perfectly good one from Jara Creations for only 10 linden. If you want another one make sure to set it for melee only because throwing daggers are illegal.

Spears:

Well, I don't use a spear but have tested a few. The funny thing is, of the ones I tested, the 10 linden one from Jara Creations performed better than all the others. I am sure the Primus one probably is a little better, but if you rarely use one, get the Jara one for less.

Tarns:

House Rau: This is my favorite one for fighting because it is much easier to shoot from. The racing tarn is the fastest, but doesn't have a basket or bombs. also, it is banned in many sims. if you get the racing one, you should get another one as well. Their regular tarn is slower, but legal in more places, plus has the additional features. it also has a fun feature for when you fly over panther camps. Type "shit" in local chat and your tarn will unload a different type of bomb on them.

Toran: This has a lot more features than the others and can hold more people on the basket. it also has a cool ladder for picking people up. However, it is a bitch to fight on one. The wings get in the way and the angle is poor, limiting what you can do. If you are going to shoot from one, get the one from House Rau. I use this one for transportation or just flying around. Plus I like carrying my slaves on the tarn's claws.
