Black Caste Assassin

« 20. February 2010, 22:21:36 »
Today I found myself aproached by three individual people wanting to hire me to do something Assassins just don't do. The first wanted me to spy on someone. The Second wanted me to wound someone but not kill them and the third wanted me to capture someone for them and bring them in.

*Takes a deep breath then tells it like it is*

Folks, we, the Black Caste, specialize in killing people. There is very little else we do aside from delivering messages and acting as personal guards. We do not wound people with the intent to let them live. You would want someone from the clan of tourturers for something like that. We do not spy on people unless it serves our own agenda. Anyone seeking work would do well for this. But we Assassins generally don't want to be bothered with this. Going out to capture someone to bring back to you....alive? Two words, Bounty Hunter.

Thank you for letting me ramble on with my two tarsk bits worth of gripe. Back to the fun.

The mark on my forehead is not so much a symbol of who I hunt as it is a testament to my skill. I, as a member of the Black Caste, have not earned this mark easily.

We can be hired for: To kill someone, To deliver a message, as a guard.  To go outside of the box there has to be a GOOD reason and GOOD role-play behind it.  Not the "Hey BC I want someone beat up." There are other groups in Gor who handle *out of the box stuff* Like Mercs, CoT.  In my 2 years being an assassin ONLY 1 time have a personally tortured someone and that was someone who owed me coin and even then I did have a CoT there to handle some of it.   Asking a BC to do something he can't do is like asking a Scribe to be a Healer.

Not long ago, I recall the Black caste, at least in Treve, actually wanting to be asked to do other things, like abductions, spying, or investigations of matters, simply because they wanted more role play.  I imagine you are still getting some follow through from those days, leading to confusion on what Killers actually do.

On that same note, from my own perspective, I applaud you guys for your efforts in remaining true to the nature of your Character's Caste and place in the world of Gor.  However, I think you are shooting yourselves in the foot as well.  Many people, myself included, think of death as a end to a story, and might be reluctant to hire a black caste to kill.  And then there is the fact that, as a red caste, I would find more honour to kill my enemies myself rather than hire someone.  I think these offers might just be to find a way to include you in the roleplay of the moment.

I think there were only two instances where I hired a black Caste, one being when I hired one to investigate a Kanda dealer, and one where I was Ordered by the Magistrate of Treve that a Man had to die because he left the City in poor standing and knew it's location.  aside from this I would never hire a black caste to kill someone, so I am afraid, with the exception of inviting you for paga and croissants, There will never be coin business done as I am conserned

I think what was happening back when you are talking about is we were getting no role-play at all. Meaning we were ignored. There are times with certain things where we can go outside the box.  In the books Black Caste is sketchy at best though it is made clear the 3 things an assassin did do. Also is some cases what we did not do, such as we did not use posion.

The 1st Treve Round Table slated for the 1st Sunday on March will be about Black Caste. I hope many attend and walk away with a better understanding about the caste.

I had the opposite this week. someone wanted to hire me to kill someone, don't know why, maybe because I poisoned a few in the past. Of course I refused and told him to seek one of Solomons group.
