Not sure where this would fall in but what of Magicians, Court Jestures, Clowns, Puppet Masters, and Play Actors? I haven't seen anything in the way of these type of entertainers described but i don't think it would be totally out of the realm of possibility of these types existing. I mean didnt goreans have something like "Fair Days" as well? Also if we take from earth's history as a template we could see even in the Roman and Greek empires of old they had this type of entertainment even at the height of the blood thirsty Gladiator battles.

To me personally it would be a blast to see this sort of thing emerge in Gor where "civilised" cities were really just that. That not only they portrayed the blood and guts and the concept of "honor' but also had a sense of artistic prowness.

Anyway it came to my mind this idea when i was reading another post about singers and opera and all of that. That's something else that has alot of possibilities. Hell we could have a gorean version of Shakespeare complete with a opera house as well.

For the other entertainment I think a carnival sort of thing isnt too hard to pull off and would not push the city that held it into the realm of "Disney" if it was done properly. Anyway just an idea.

There are a number of entertainers around SL Gor.  I run into a few of them that I know.  They travel around from city to city, I think they sometimes have events where they have poetry and plays.

Players of Gor is one book that has alot of references to traveling entertainers.  Boots Tarsk-Bit lead such a group and they put on plays in various places around Gor, including the Encara Fairs.

There IS a group of entertainers still in gor. We are called The Gorean Carnival. There is reference to carnivals in the books, I do not really have the quote for ya.

On the topic of traveling... I do travel from time to time and I have seen a few other entertainers do so also. My route tends to be along the Vosk River, yet, I am looking to change up my route. (Literally pull up a map of gor and only go to the cities along the Vosk which I can find in search.)

I am also looking for more work, so, if you require an entertainer for any of your events, please seek me inworld.

...In many Gorean cities, accordingly, the Twelfth Passage Hand, the five days preceding the Waiting Hand, that time to which few Goreans look forward with eagerness, is carnival. The fact that it was now only two days to the Twelfth Passage Hand, explained the presence of the unusual number of theatrical and carnival troupes now in the city.

See thats what I'm talking about ! Cheesy that sounds real cool ! not to mention that the traffic in any given sim that has a carnival would attract alot of people. You also have alot of real good roleplay scenarios. It would be nice to see some of these entertainers get some celebrity status where people start milling up to them for autographs , maybe even a gorean version of "paparazzi" LOL hell throw in the occasional celebrity stalker and you have some interesting and new roleplay! Cheesy

yeah i found a sim that had alot of musical instruments, even had some that you were supposed to be able to sync up with other people and play as like a band, i bought some to just test it out and never could get it to work, but then again if its not just a wear and click item I sometimes get confused so it could possibly be just me not getting it, but i think it would really be fun to see some entertainers sometimes, and Id be asking for an autograph, and you could hire warriors as bodyguards!

We could also get the scribes into this as well. Maybe they could start a local newspaper/scroll sort of thing and try to get interviews with some of the entertainers as well.

On a side note I always thought that Scribes could have a more active roll as well. I mean aside from the idea of them doing their own version of "Entertainment Weekly" they could also report news on when the city is raided, have a "Citizen or Warrior of the Week" start a gossip column (for the more unprincipled journalist LOL) even post ads for different buisnessess. The thing is to maximise your caste's potential, even thinking out of the box in some cases. It's got be a hell of alot more fun than just being a librarian.

I would like to see the ones interested in pursuing a career as an entertainer do the same thing , i mean REALLY get into that role. You would be surprised how much the roleplay improves in a city when the folks their make their careers and caste a personal project.

A member of the Artisan caste has just joined Treve. For fun, I challenge you to find out who it is!

Hint: The person's skill is in the painting of portraits--I wouldn't be surprised if the Ubar of Treve himself did not commission his portrait done by this talented artist.

I think they will fall under the caste of entertainers...though no specific mention on Gor. I found some entertainers on SL Gor and most are very good indeed. If you ever get the chance though to see Dar Ruska and his Dar-Lings, it is NOT to miss...best thing ever.

Nella's (me) father is a poet, he was exiled and later killed a couple fo years ago when she was 16-17, he recited many poems to her and helped her doing her own, though she keeps her profile really low, she is an artist, but Nella never tells, she is always afraid of talking of her past, im planning that soon she'll say "what the hell!" and express her art through poems openly, of course, rarely traveling since that would be dangerous for women, i dont remember there were female poets in the books, thats why i never wanted nella to be one, but now im considering it, because of the lack of entertainers and artists in sl-gor, and i have lots of barbaric/love and also some poems expressing jealousy toward slaves i've wrote Cheesy sadly they are all in Wordpads archives XD they are all short but is always fun to read poems that rhyme  Kiss  right? Undecided lol

Nella sees no one is around and mutters.."por que me habrán traído aqui?" in her native tongue, Spanish, sitting on Nita's room, she lets out a sigh of sadness.
