how about we simply say.... duck and dive out of the way when you hear wings flapping or make it a rule that everyone has to look up when they are on the landing zone of the tarnhouse

If I was to look up, I'd probably trip over my own two feet.  Wink

Well spoken Ambassador!  I would if I should issue a warning about my mighty bird BeGone.  He may be small but what he lacks for size, he makes up with his stealth and predatory nature.

Well since it seems I am getting pot shots taken at me throughout this post I just wish to clear a few things up...

1 - My tarn death was a planned death yes ( Altho I didnt know the tarn was of the black caste until after when dove laughingly told me ) Cheesy

The reason I "suicided" my character was a personal choice as it was either do that or have to hire an Assassin (At that point I didnt know I was marked for death for certian either otherwise I honestly would have waited and let Xaz have his fun) to kill off one of the Treve Scarlets.

2 - I was a Citizen of Treve still at that point so sorry to burst that little bubble rumour. Grin

3 - I sure as hell didnt mean for everyone else to try copy my death, find your own forms of suicide and leave poor Doves tarns alone  Undecided

I do not think all Trevian Free Women should be banned from the tarn house for my line of rp or anothers who probally wasnt even watching the skies as she should have been in that area (( from my understanding it was a landing tarn?? correct me if im wrong tho )) How ever yes I do agree you shouldnt be down there without reason or escort, before anyone says anything I did have a reason... it was to die and make a tarn famous in the process it seems... Hmmm Looks like I have to get serious? Blech. Anyway..!
All things that *happen* around tarn house are part of roleplay. We have the occasionally very grand roleplay go on around it, it's how I get to do something besides work work work on tarns. And others leap in with fun too.
Death by tarns, tarns that land on folks accidentally, we roll that right into roleplay, not worrying about ooc motives or judgment. We get roleplay out of it!

Heck, the other night I had a very old man (Loki) totter into the tarnhouse and ask for an *old* tarn. Guess who made one for him? I'm so proud of my creation of that horrible UGLY OLD bird with dandruff-particle script that can be turned on and off.(laughs hysterically). Should of saved the roleplay log to post it here. He bought it for a  silver.

Look at what this statement " no free women of treve" brought about..that was said in roleplay at the tarnhouse to the residents there. Here the ambassador with smooth words, speculation on why should a free woman be there, etc.etc...gave more roleplay fun if you ignore the ooc comments.

In roleplay and really OOC too, that tarn house is Dove's place of private residence on the sim. It's not a *public owned building* like taverns and other buildings etc of the port. All doors with tarns on them are private living quarters of tarn house residents.
But!
Like the books ,( example the slave house in Assassins of Gor), its a living roleplay gorean shop.  There are *areas* that are public, front lawn, the major open area on first floor, and the landing.
Blending my actual live building/scripting of tarns into roleplay with all the bartering, raising, training and creating of tarns has been a challenge, very rewarding and fun for me and gave roleplay for others as well.
The house rule stands "No Free women of Treve allowed on the landing".

Ven looks at Dove with knitted brows, a slight frown tugging the corners of his lips downwards.  He speaks in a low rough tone "So, you are trying to kill me with Pinko eh?"

Ooooh, I used to get in such terrible trouble with my parents when as a child growing up in Treve, I would sneak off to visit the Tarnskeeper, who even once let me nap using a tarn's egg as a pillow. Yes yes, I know it is shocking, but I speak the truth!

I know not why, but though I was a quite foolish child, I never was harmed by the ferocious beasts. I am, of course, an adult now and much wiser, although the thought of visiting the tarn cots is still so alluring to me that I must battle myself against it, even much more than I must battle other things that keep my neck out of steel...

Ive been to the Tarn house only once but as was stated FW are not allowed on the landing which is fine if one really wants to see them land all they have to do is look up and watch, and if I had been let to go up to the landing Im pretty sure I would have had sense enough to stay well back when they came in to land  Tongue
