There is a lot one may tell about the world of Gor and about the gorean specials in SL. Also the answer to this question will always be affected by the personal view of everybody.

Gor, also known as the Counter-Earth, is a fictitious planet that is supposed to be in the same orbit as Earth, but on the opposite side of the Sun and undetectable to Earth science. Gor has three moons, is smaller than Earth and has a lower gravity field. Gor is a world created by John Norman in a series of 27 novels by now.
“John Norman, pen name of John Frederick Lange, Jr. (born June 3, 1931), is a professor of philosophy, but is better known as the author of the Gor series, which was popular in the 1970s and early 1980s with millions of copies sold, and still has many fans. He holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University and is a professor at Queens College of the City University of New York in New York City.”(quote: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Norman) Gor is a world of greater and lesser technology. A race of Priest-Kings, insect like creatures, live in the Sardar mountains. They have a technology excelsior to ours. They control and rule as Gods over the planet, but remain unseen and mysterious to the populace. They limit humans to a rudimentary technology, similar to that of the medieval era here on earth. Those caught developing forbidden technologies are subject to the blue Flame Death. If a violator is located by the Priest-Kings a blue flame disintegrates that person.
"The Priest-Kings have transported numerous people from Earth to Gor over a period of thousands of years. They have also restricted Goreans from using many forms of technology but have allowed them to excel in a few limited areas where their technology even surpasses that of Earth. For example, Gorean Physicians have created the Stabilization Serums, a cure for aging. However, there are similarities regarding the roles of men and women as seen on Gor.
Gor is a barbaric world affected through a sense of honour, ruled by steel and a world dominated by men, they are the Masters.

In this world slavery is a historic and generally accepted course of action. You may find male slaves but those are seldom.
