Lately the Village of Minus has been attracting a lot of people New citizens, visitors, explorers, and traders, which is all well and good. But in addition to all of those people, Panthers are showing up more and more often, causing much angst amongst Villagers. Invariably, they wind up shooting into the crowds, dragging off on or two captives and selling them off as slaves.
Why, just the other day, the Village was quiet, the free where sitting in the INN enjoying refreshments when a small band of 6or 7 panthers raided. No one was able to sound the alarm before Lady Maria and the warrior Mal where taken down and bound. For some strange reason, they let the warrior go and kept Lady Maria. Why they did that is still unknown but it certainly helped the rescue of the poor citizen of Minus.
Mal quickly gathered a small group of men, one of whom was the Ubar. Damon joined in along with 2 slaves and, of all people, the Killer, Xaz. Mal led the way to Rine de Bois where the tribe called home. The men fought bravely while the slaves ran into the camp looking for the missing Maria only to find her locked away tight.
We thank the Priest Kings for the strong men we have in our land. Not only did they get Lady Maria out alive, unharmed and with a fresh new hairstyle, but all those who went on the rescue mission came back home safely.
Of course, Lady Maria doesn’t wish to talk about the ordeal she went through and I had no desire to pressure her into reliving the troubling experience and I would ask that others respect her desire to forget the whole incident.

Summer is here and so is the new garden, supplying the Port and surround areas. We have vegetable a plenty and all are welcome to come and trade. Vosk Valley is a trade port and we have many wares to offer our Treve and Minus neighbors.

Gossip is flying around the port concerning the resident yellow caste, huge with child. Everyone is curious as to whether it will or a boy or girl...and just how fat can that poor woman get? And, oh my lord! Have you seen the jugs on that woman??
Money is out on when she pops and the father is pacing and ready for the blessed event and return of his former sweet companion. And the slaves will be glad to have a lighter footed free woman about without horns of the devil.

The Tarn House is a vast breeding house for tarns. Located in Vosk Valley Port, this now huge stone and wood building has living within it, two free woman; Lady Adoveea Rau and Lady Drakena, three tarnsmen; Drago, Stephen and Patrik (and all their their slaves), and employs another merchant, Lady Ginger and a scribe named Mercy is kept on retainer and commission.
The lawn is the first sight a visitor sees, where various standard and city tarns are displayed, chained to their perches and marble headed statues of tarn heads (those marble heads upon touch, will show the exotics). It leads up into a vast stone and wood place in which pictures are upon the wall and where the *common tarn pens* (vendors) can be found. The next two levels are restricted by a door, which only tarn house folks or trusted people can open. The second level is the breeding area, where the eggs and equipment stay, and the third level is the called the landing, where tarns are trained. The women reside in the upper levels the men in the lower.
The Tarn house breeds racers and war tarns. Lady Adoveea Rau, know as Lady Dove or the Tarn Lady, states that "the breeding program has expanded greatly in it's war tarns-standard common war tarns, are available to all in the common pens; Exotics which are custom tarns bred to exactly what a customer desires; and the city tarns, very special exotic tarns that take the colors of the city shields and are bred just for a city's warriors, and only that city has the right to give them out."
What are the prices of a war tarn? The Lady Dove laughed and asksif you have met the tarn house's well known and highly skilled tough bargaining merchants. Lady Ginger and Lady Drakena have been known to squeeze every last copper out of a tarnsman's pouch, and even taken debt papers for a tarn. Two Ubars have paid 50 gold for their tarns and Lady Dove herself once sold a very old old tarn for a silver.
Exotics-or Custom Tarns are the crowning glory of the Tarn house, those are one of a kind tarns, made for one person only and never repeated for anyone. "They take at least three days to breed" Lady Dove says seriously, "sometimes more. I've been threatened several times by tarnsmen greatly desiring someone else's exotic tarn, and I just no, you can't have it".
How many tarns has the Lady bred so far?..she lightly laughs and admits "after 70 I stopped counting, wish my inventory did the same". To have an exotic tarn bred, you sit down with the house owner and chief breeder of tarns, Lady Dove. and as she says "Tell me your dream, your vision of a tarn". Colors, looks, style of wings, saddle color, reins down to the very look in it's eyes are taken down and noted. Then the tarn is bred and you come back for *first inspection*. "At that point" Lady Dove says lightly "A person checks the tarn over, and rebreed or fix anything that is not to what they desired." Tarns are not paid for, until they are completed, inspected and the customer is satisfied with their tarn. "Generally by the time the tarnsman comes to do a first inspection of their exotic, i"ve already had two or three offers for it."
**Standard pen tarns go for (1200 L) and Exotics for (3000 L) . City tarns go for (900 L) in their cities. All standard tarns sold in venders are taxed to 15% and that 15% commission when sold immediately and automatically goes to a sim owner to help pay the tier. City tarns reside in a vender generally in a cities's warrior hall, and every purchase of those city tarns, 15% commission instantly goes to support the city sim owner's tier. Lady Dove unabashedly admits all her own gains are spent in creating texures and scupties for the birds and sim tier help. (uploading costs alot when you do original textures constantly).

A Run of Bad Luck?

It was as if the Prist Kings were against the Mighty City of Treve this week, One disaster after another seemed to wash over our beloved land and no one knew why.
First, the bank was robbed and damaged. The Ubar was nearly out of his mind with anger. Not only did someone place a smelly bosk inside the newly refurbished bank, but the doors were smashed in and broken. Somehow, the theif was able to take every last coin the city had. Knowing that no one can enter the city without being seen, it appears to have been an inside job. But Who?
The Ubar put LT Grondar in charge of the investigation. The first person he wanted to speak to was. of course, the Banker herself. The lovely Lady Flame knew nothing of the matter stating that she had locked the bank as always. Needless to say, this matter is still under investigation.
A few days after the bank robbery, Lt. Colin was struck down by one of the many BC seen coming and going down in Minus. Only a few days before the assassination, one of the Killers had been spotted hanging about the city square, making slave and Free alike on edge. You just cant be too careful when one of them is around. In the blink of an eye, the Killer struck the Warrior down, sending the Free Women and most slaves scattering for cover, as well as most of the slaves. There were a few slaves who stayed, perhaps frozen with fear until the Killer heard saying "If you know what’s best for you, you will run." One of the two took his advise whilst the other stayed at the Lieutenant's side, she was, afterall, his slave.

Biographical
"Lax" was born in a village in the Vosk Delta near the opening of the Thassa. He was raised to follow his Father's caste, that of the Warrior. His Brother Disappeared before he was born, so he was raised as an only child. His Village was under a constant series of raids by the nearby Port City called Kar. Raiding Warriors of the City would come and take all the Fish and other supplies the villagers could gather. His Father, wise enough to know when not to fight, would let the raiders take the goods rather that enslave and murder the villagers. Lax saw this as cowardice, and left the village to gain support from others, against his Father's wishes. In a distant Northern area, he would find what he thought would be the saviours of his home... the Kur
Though Many of the Kur ignored Lax's request for aid, a small band decided to amuse themselves at Lax's expense. Lax offered these Kur representatives anything they desired to save his home, however upon his return to his village, he learned that the cost would be the enslavement of the village. Knowing that his deeds made things worse, he explained to his Father. His Father was angered and Cast Lax from the village. When he went to the Kur again to try and stop them, they held him captive, locked in a small box with only one window, making him watch as they destroyed his village and killed every man, woman , slave and child in the village. As a final humiliation, they crushed his homestone no more that 2 hort from his face.
Though he was sure he would be next, Lax was left there among the bodies of all he loved. Knowing he had nothing left he ran. for days and days, until exhausted he finally collapsed. He was discovered by a passing merchant and taken in my the Captain of his Guards. Both the Merchant and The Captain took a liking to Lax and each taught him what they knew. Most of the lessons were quite helpful, but some would be thought of as less than honourable to the average Warrior of the Red Caste. Fighting, stealth, tracking and hunting among the better, more noble, lock-picking and the art of disguise, ones less favoured.
In time Lax left his band of Travellers and moved off to make his own way. He travelled to Ar just prior to the theft of it's homestone, but departed before anything actually happened. He would later use the Idea of the reported thief in an attempt of his own to steal a homestone. Unfortunately his results would end differently. He was Hired as a guardsmen in Tharna, during the revolt of the Dorna the Proud. He did revert to the Side of Lara in the end, but only after being sure the numbers were truly on Lara's side. His skills as a hunter would gain him many jobs, as well. He fed a northern village single handed, during a particularly harsh winter season and was once Hired to search for Gold in the Mountains of Treve. He was unable to find any, however, being arrested by a Warrior.
