For some time now I have been debating about bringing the Agoge War College into the Vosk Valley.  The last attempt with the college stalled it before it really had a chance to get going, the sim it shared with a BC compound closed, my counterparts and I had sudden RL and other issues that took our time away from it, and probably rushed it before it was actually ready.

My whole purpose behind starting the Agoge originally, as some that follow my ranting on Gorums might know, was to provide a mostly IC environment to provide support and training based on the books, guidance to bring the quality of RP to a higher level, and provide an open discussion environment for those that are interested in such things.  My approach was for that niche market of warriors (Scarlet caste, Tuchuks, Torvies, etc) as my way of giving back to the caste I enjoy to play and give those Killers a run for their coins in RP.

I am debating on whether to go for it again based on the following:
- Time/schedule still limited, and I am SLT so I miss most people.
- Crimson Spear does a good job already and a lot broader in scope than than my approach as well.
- Is there actual demand from Warriors wanting to learn beyond combat skill and general RP?  I think their is some interest but is there enough.
- and finally, would it be good or bad thing for the village it would be close to?

IC Ven would be somewhat picky on who he trains, whether or not Agoge rebuilds he will continue to do that.  OOC wise, I am more than willing to share my thoughts, research and experience with anyone that asks.  Already gave everything I had note carded to Crimson Spear long ago.

I wonder if there is some RP theme here which can bring Treve and VVP together.

We have regular flow of warriors joining us with a range of skills and appreciation of GOR and combat in general, I wonder if this could be a venture as part of their entrance and acceptance to the red caste of Treve.

What do you think ?

I like the idea too. Officers are on at odd times from some of the men and they don't get the training they need. this way we could help make sure they do

Lack of training or guidance is one of the complaints I most heard or saw in most cities and being an officer is more demanding than many people think.  The war college to me is a way to provide alternate source of training from a warriors city and a chance for old and new to hone our skills.  It is not meant to be a official stamp of approval of who is a warrior and who is not because we all have different interpretations of what makes a warrior.

The general idea is training in the following:
- RP basics & etiquette (emoting standards for binding/grappling, dealing with mod issues) all to minimize the disruption of RP or battle.
- Ethos and codes of the Scarlet
- Training in weapons and tactics for raiding/defending
- General expectations and duties from trainee to General.
- Getting rid of some of the annoying onlinisms that exist thru discussion and common sense.

Most of it I have in a rather rough framework but I know I am missing out on a lot of things and open to suggestions to provide something more for the caste.

As to Ven coming to speak with the Ubara of Treve, that might not be safe as he has a strong dislike for Treve.  Something about the war between Treve and Cardonicus that drove him to go bald.  Tongue

Ahh..I was wondering what happened to Vens hair...here I thought it might have had something to do with a fire at the gates and a half completed bath.....

Oh, I haven't seen this thread before but this personally interests me alot.

As a Red Caste, I spend alot of time myself trying to delve into the philosophical / morality of the Red Caste.
There are alot of things that could be discussed / lectured about when it comes to the Warrior Caste, and ofcourse the physicial training (sparring) will be useful.

I'm not sure how easy it'll be to expand the college to a multisim thing, Crimson Spear did good for a short while regarding that - they still give alot of basic training classes (to which lately barely anyone comes from what I've seen. (Yeah I still regulary join the basic archery/melee classes they give Wink)). I'm more interested in the advanced classes (melee/raiding/archery) they try to give, but very often i'm the only or one of the few people there and so those classes get cancelled. (Or maybe I just had very bad luck with them). The ones I did attend tho were very useful.

Anyway - I'd be interested in helping setting something like this up... There is alot of RP that can go into the concept of a Red Caste Academy. Far beyond just melee and archery training.
