i feel that there is a way your character should look, depending on the geographical zone, example:

a taharian - i believe that they would look like egyptians, dark skinned, dark hair and dark eyes

torvaldsland man/woman - thick, maybe pale skintone, light brown/blonde/orange hair, etc etc

Treve/Minus - a soft tan maybe? the hair and eyes will vary more here i guess -- i would like to hear opinions

and also, what are the wagon people inspired in? asians? gypsies? i hear that question a lot and always is answered with -- asians or gypsies- -

asking this because i've seen taharians with platinum hair, liiight blue eyes ^^ i dont think that fits

For every place of Gor there is a Earthern equivalent...to me. Of course, highly subjective.

* Arians: Romans
* Cosians: Greeks
* Torvaldslanders: Scandinavians
* Hochburg, Tarnburg: Germanics
* Taharian: Arabs
* Voltai: I usually think of them as Anglo-Saxons, heavy English influence. But not strong bases to say this.

I am not sure about other regions...trying to remember all.

And as for Voltai...I'm not sure about the Anglo-Saxons. I would probably be under the assumption the Vosk region as a whole has a more Romaneque setting to it while the islands of the northern Thassa, Cos, Tyros etc, pertain to that of the Greeks.

I think those generics are very good, remmber also though that people travelled and a slave from a certain might be sought after in a different area to where they originated from, also with the FW who got taken in raids etc, so there will be mixing up.  Its good to have a combination of stereotypical to the area and a blend as in RL, just my two pence of an opinion...

Yes I couldn't agree more - here on Earth there were huge blends.

For example looking at the Egyptians in the Ptolemaic dynasty - the rulers were actually all Hellenic (Greek) and thousands of greek citizens and veterans were given holdings throughout the land.

Wagon peoples: Mongolians

Tuchuks were Mongolian, some Tuchuks I know look like that.
Kataii are black-skinned. Must admit most of my tribe are not.
There can be blond people in the other tribes, names like Harold, Konrad suggest Germanic origin.

I have to wonder if people say Germanic for these two places just based on the names sounding German.  Religiously speaking, the Germans of old worshipped the same gods as did the Scandinavians, just under slightly different names.....somewhat similar to the way that Greeks and Romans had the same gods, except that the Roman's just assimilated the religion of the Greeks and renamed their gods.  In Scandinavia, there was Odin, in the Germanic, it was Woden.  Scandinavian Thor was Germanic Donar, etc. etc.
