Silly spoiled Isabella

((working hard on being a true Trevan lol))
Sophiaa Farella nodded and withdrew, walking gracefully, with her head held high
Sophiaa Farella whispered.."he seems to be in a pretty good mood..good luck!"
Isabella Bergiere approaches the office with an unconcerned glance to Sophiaa, "I am not at all afraid, there is no need to remain"
Sophiaa Farella nodded.."be well Bella"
Isabella Bergiere enters and inclines her head politely
Sigiher Jacobus: Tal Lady please be seated I say as I take a seat assuming she is here for the upcoming court hearing and I wait to see what she has to say after she sits
Isabella Bergiere takes a seat indolently and looks around the office before glancing at the magistrate and starting, "I have come to let you know that I have been unable to complete the scroll you gave me as I have not yet procured legal counsel. However my protector and myself have an appointment with the Ubara and I expect to return it to you very shortly.", she gives him a nod and prepares to rise
Sigiher Jacobus: very well Lady perhaps there are other things you might wish to discuss or have some private advice from me before you leave regarding court and what might happen?
Isabella Bergiere looks at him curiously, "Is that wise Sir, I would have thought that since you are to be the judge, you would not want to get involved prior to the hearing.", she pauses, her sharp mind calculating before she gives him a winning smile and continues with a heavy dose of flattery, "of course I would be honoured if you would impart any of your wisdom to me
"
Sigiher Jacobus: Lady, the Gentleman scribe Cor Tarrant is an experienced litigator of many years and as such will have a distinct advantage over almost anyone you might employ to represent you, being one of the most brilliant minds of Gor. I say this not to have favoritism but only of honor and truth. Furthermore he has a very strong case falling back on family tradition and family law being that the closest surviving male heir of a family does indeed control its interests
Isabella Bergiere narrows her eyes at him, "So you mean to say that, prior to recieving any of my evidence and without hearing any of my side you have made up your mind that Cor is to be winner of the day?", she demands angrily
Sigiher Jacobus: no Lady what I mean to say is I have had his side of the case and he has a strong suit, and it will be going to court and it might be wise for you to consider other options before you enter court if you cannot attain equal legal representation and if you cannot provide a case equally as compelling
Isabella Bergiere pulls at her hair in a nervous manner but is nevertheless pacified by his words and sinks back into her chair. Hesitant now she rubs her temple and answers, "Do you not think i have considered all my options Sir, there are none open to me, well, no legal means that I can see. I wonder what options you see that I do not?"
Sigiher Jacobus: I am most assured that you have not considered every option Lady. There is an option most Free Women would not consider and that is to enter a contractual binding of slavery for a specific time to a powerful household with high legal expertise so that they might further represent you and arrange a situation better to your liking during the contractual time of slavery. Additionally slavery of any sort even contractual erases all debts, protectorships, companionships, in sort it removes the entire past of the woman entering it if the contract is written correctly"
Isabella Bergiere 's jaw drops opens as she listens incredulously to his words, "You must be out of your mind Sir, if you think i would even consider such an option. Do you not know who I am and who the other side of my family are?" she looks haughtily to him, "and what legal expertise do you refer to?" she asks mockingly, "You? Against the famous Cor Tarrant? Be assured that this would never be an option to me"
Sigiher Jacobus: Lady it is of course up to you to consider your path and I am not suggesting anyone because of course in the trial I am Magistrate but if I was approached before the trial with a contract then I would be legal representation according to the contract... Anyhow of course a woman of your stature could never consider such a thing, I do hope you have a very solid case and an excellent scribe lawyer
Isabella Bergiere nods curtly to him and rises.
I am glad you see things my way", she says snidely, looking down at him, "I am insulted that you would even suggest such a thing to me; I'd rather catch the Bazo plague than sell myself", she says turning away.
Sigiher Jacobus: of course Lady Pride is so much more important that you may be sold into a companionship to a fat, ugly tooth rotted blighter by Cor at a later date... and I smile as I say that somewhat under my breath and relax in my chair
Isabella Bergiere whirls around enraged as she catches his words, "Do not make veiled threats to me Sir. Again you assume that I will lose. You must think highly of yourself indeed if you think that slave to you would be a better option than risking Cor's choice of companion"
Sigiher Jacobus: actually Lady I think many such things would be solved by my consideration both legally and personally and that you would find a new beginning escaping all these headaches. However as I was saying please consider your other options and I hope they work for you
Isabella Bergiere sneers, "A new beginning as a slave, I think not. Anyway i have listened to this nonsense long enough, Be Well Sir", she says, deliberately using the words he has previously reprimanded her for and sweeps out without a backwards glance, tossing her ebony locks over her shoulder.
