[8:40]  Bayard Naxos clears his eyes awaking in the tarn house suprized the tarn didn't eat him. His azzure stare is tired but wakes up with new energy.
[8:41]  Bayard Naxos: Salam lady Dove.
[8:48]  Bayard Naxos thinks dove is a asleep and sits till she wakes.
[9:00]  Adoveea Rau: Tal Sandman, I am supposed to tell you not to wear your weapons
[9:01]  Bayard Naxos: Why ? who orderd it ? the scarlet cast already allowed me my weapons your father is the highest ruling one I shall keep them on.
[9:01]  Adoveea Rau gives a small shrug "I was told by one of the warriors"
[9:01]  Bayard Naxos: who ?
[9:02]  Adoveea Rau: Can't remember, he was given orders by the commander, the winds are changing again in the land, the men are starting to wake up to their duties.
[9:02]  Bayard Naxos: unless its done by your father I will not honor it. I have done no harm so far and kept my words.  The commander whom free compainion I hit ? the one that did not hear my side of the story and probably will jump to conclusions ?
[9:03]  Adoveea Rau: And one of the things that has been realized, and a warrior reprimanded for it, is that you did not recieve your 25 lashes, a failure of his warrior duty
[9:03]  Bayard Naxos: the scarlet cast saw me as a honorable warrior he carried out his duty with the equal amount of force.
[9:04]  Bayard Naxos: it was not a failure he complied with a honorable scarler answer for I am of the scarlet cast not a outlaw or kajirus.
[9:04]  Adoveea Rau: And you broke your word to a warrior as well, you gave your word of honor that you would not use your weapons, and did, injuring two men after the trial.  You are forsworn on that.  A liar by word and deed
[9:05]  Bayard Naxos: The man had his weapon drawn out and I felt like I was being challenged , when a scarlet gets challenged inside a court he answers with steel.
[9:05]  Adoveea Rau: You gave your word, and broke it
[9:05]  Bayard Naxos: I screamed that before I was attacked from behind.
[9:05]  Adoveea Rau: Again, you gave your word that you would not use your weapons, and did.  You broke your word to another warrior
[9:06]  Bayard Naxos: Nay I did not ! after the trial I made that promis to a warrior and your father that no one shall be harmed. the sword happy fellow was hostile towards me when I was only speaking.
[9:06]  Adoveea Rau: Yes you did Sandman, you gave oath, and I was there to see it, that when you were arrested, to the warrior arresting you, that you would not use your weapons, you swore on your word of honor.  You lied
[9:07]  Bayard Naxos: No I did not
[9:07]  Adoveea Rau: by your actions and using them
[9:07]  Bayard Naxos: the man had his weapon out there was no need for his weapon out
[9:07]  Adoveea Rau: You gave your word, do you deny that?
[9:07]  Bayard Naxos: by gorean law anyone drawing a weapon on another one is allowed to attack I was within my codes
[9:07]  Adoveea Rau: Did you or did you not, give your word of honor
[9:07]  Bayard Naxos: I gave my word to the warrior after the sentance and to you father I did not break it.
[9:07]  Adoveea Rau: to the arresting man.  No. Do you wish to have me recall it in full, I cannot read, but I remember everything, that is my skill
[9:08]  Bayard Naxos: I also told the arresting man that there was no need to draw his weapon against me if he did it again I would answer like a scarlet.
[9:08]  Adoveea Rau: Did you or did you not give your word
[9:08]  Bayard Naxos: he drew his weapon in a court at me
[9:09]  Adoveea Rau: The matter is your own honor, not others and their actions, did you or did you not swear you would not use your weapons
[9:09]  Bayard Naxos: I gave my word after the trial when the scarlet honored that code and to your father.
[9:09]  Adoveea Rau: Did you or did you not at the time of arrest
[9:09]  Bayard Naxos: I swore I would not use my weapons but as a scarlet I have right to defend myself
[9:09]  Adoveea Rau: You are forsworn you broke your own word to another warrior
[9:10]  Bayard Naxos: at the time of the arrest I said I have no harm intended with the citzens if they do not treat me hostile.  I was treated hostile by the sword happy warrior.  in the court.  I will not take my weapons off lady Dove obviously the commander wishes for revenge , I have kept my word , did I attack anyone when I met your father, I kept my word.  I do not back down from it
[9:11]  Adoveea Rau: I tell you what you have done, and you do not listen
[9:11]  Bayard Naxos: You forger I acted within my cast codes when a man drew his weapon at me.  I am a scarlet
[9:12]  Adoveea Rau: You have broken your word and injured men after the trial
[9:12]  Bayard Naxos: it is not a word broken when a man is hostile I will defend myself Dove for that is every free man his right. did I kill him or only down him ?
[9:13]  Adoveea Rau: The commander only will see that, and in that right, he has the truth of it. That you broke your word to another warrior, remained armed because the warrior believed you
[9:13]  Bayard Naxos: No he does not. the warrior also promised me he wouldn't use his weapon he drew it and was hostile towards me.
[9:14]  Adoveea Rau: There would not be injured warriors if your weapons had been taken, as any other prisioner would of been done, you do not leave prisioners armed, they beleive your word.  You failed
[9:14]  Bayard Naxos: so both of us broke a promis . after the trial I kept that promis
[9:14]  Adoveea Rau: No, you failed
[9:14]  Bayard Naxos: at first we both failed. not just me dove
[9:14]  Cottage Door - Modded Script: Drago Blackheart is at the door.
[9:14]  Adoveea Rau: It has nothing to do with others, it is what you have done that counts, because you should of been unarmed, instead they trusted you to keep your word.  You failed
[9:15]  Bayard Naxos: No I did not fail I honored my codes when I felt threatend.  Tal Sir , I appologize for attacking you in court.
[9:15]  Adoveea Rau: You should of been unarmed, but you were not because a warrior believed your word, you failed in that
[9:15]  Bayard Naxos: I felt threatend enough by you that day. The question dove when I met your father did I harm him ? no I did not. he attacked me and I kept my word on that.
[9:16]  Adoveea Rau: That is not the point Sandman, you were left with your weapons because you gave your word that you would not use them. and you did, breaking your word of honor. The failure is there
[9:17]  Bayard Naxos: No I did not break my word a man drew his weapon infornt of me as a scarlet I have the rights to defend.
[9:17]  Adoveea Rau: You would not have had your weapons, if the warrior stripped you of them like all warriors do to all prisioner.  but that warrior believed in your oath of honor as a warrior
[9:17]  Bayard Naxos: I am not a outlaw , I am a scarlet the warrior acted with honor.
[9:17]  Adoveea Rau: so you failed your word. You lied to another warrior
[9:18]  Bayard Naxos: up till the fact he drew his weapon
[9:18]  Adoveea Rau: Sandman again you were a liar by word and deed. You broke your oath
[9:18]  Bayard Naxos: I ask you again when I met your father did I break that oath yes or no ?
[9:18]  Adoveea Rau: Did you draw your weapons? when you said you would not?  Did you injure the very man who trusted you not to?
[9:19]  Bayard Naxos: I drew my weapon because I was challenged when I was simply talking
[9:19]  Adoveea Rau: The one that believed in your word of honor?  You did
[9:19]  Bayard Naxos: if I drew my weapon it was to protect my own life
[9:19]  Adoveea Rau: You injured the very man who arrested you, trusted you to stand to your oath.  He would of never been injured if he had stripped you of your weapons
[9:19]  Bayard Naxos: he didn't arrest I came willingly
[9:20]  Adoveea Rau: You were arrested, willingly or not, they would of taken you down. Willingly meant you were given dignity to walk. You gave a oath and broke it
[9:20]  Bayard Naxos: I let my tahari anger get the best of me too but I kept my words to the honorable scarlet cast I did not harm another citzens after that
[9:20]  Adoveea Rau: You broke your oath. SOOOO if I badly injure you it's okay
[9:21]  Bayard Naxos: if you want to take my weapons now I will hand you my golden scimtar and my debt is paid , then I shall leave and never return .
[9:21]  Adoveea Rau: Becauese I am angry.  is that what you are telling me?
[9:21]  Bayard Naxos: You forger I am angry too , all over a free woman that did not know her place it was not battery .
[9:22]  Adoveea Rau: all that has nothing to do with you breaking your word to another warrior.  what kind of honor is that. to even injure him with the very weapons you swore you would not use
[9:22]  Bayard Naxos: The warrior broke his word to when he drew his weapon in a hostile manor towards me as a scarlet it is within my codes to defend myself .
[9:22]  Adoveea Rau: You would of not HAD those weapons
[9:23]  Bayard Naxos: all would have could have hypothesis .
[9:23]  Adoveea Rau: But they trusted you, and you broke your word. that is fact
[9:23]  Bayard Naxos: no I had my weapons when I met your father and he honored the fact that I was to carry them he is of the highest law here.
[9:24]  Bayard Naxos: I kept my promis all about Lady Dove.
[9:24]  Adoveea Rau: I speak of the time before that, and it is there you lied and broke your word. You broke your oath.  so everything is fine after that?
[9:24]  Bayard Naxos: no I did not I upheld the codes of a warrior
[9:24]  Adoveea Rau: You broke your word
[9:24]  Bayard Naxos: A oath can not be above my warrior codes.
[9:24]  Bayard Naxos: turns to the warrior he injured , what are your injury fees ?
[9:25]  Drago Blackheart: looks to him cooly.
[9:26]  Drago Blackheart: their is not enough gold in gor to buy your honor back
[9:27]  Bayard Naxos looks at the man , " nor is yours you drew a weapon at a man in court who was already not resisting arrest and where being hostile , I remained talking to the magistrate. "
[9:28]  Drago Blackheart: i followed my codes i obeyred my orders.  but then what would you know of that, you answer to no one
[9:30]  Bayard Naxos looks at the man " Your probably right , I am a young foolish tahari warrior with a ill temper that was treated like a hostile strange from the start. "
[9:31]  Bayard Naxos: You have warriors that obey orders and you have strong men that give them you decide what kind I am.
[9:32]  Drago Blackheart: you are you, a brigand from the sea of sand
[9:33]  Bayard Naxos: Then permit this warrior to give his humble apology to you warrior.
[9:34]  Drago Blackheart: you word holds no water to me
[9:34]  Adoveea Rau: You have broken your word once, that means you will do it again
[9:34]  Bayard Naxos: I understand , I Wish you well
[9:34]  Bayard Naxos: No I will not do it again.
[9:35]  Adoveea Rau scoffs "your word means nothing, you broke it once"
[9:35]  Bayard Naxos: but if I am challenged I will defend Dove, as a gorean respects life.
[9:35]  Bayard Naxos: then I shall leave, hands her his golden scimtar. I wish you well I shall never return.
[9:35]  Adoveea Rau: Drago take the sword, I will not
[9:36]  Bayard Naxos: Consider my debt payed
[9:36]  Drago Blackheart: picks up the blade
[9:36]  Bayard Naxos: mind opening the door Dove ?
[9:36]  Drago Blackheart: and hands to back to the taharian
[9:36]  Adoveea Rau: escort him out Drago
[9:37]  Cottage Door - Modded Script: Drago Blackheart is at the door.

it's always interesting to see priorities on players and how they perceive their role and actions.

I find it amusing that apparently whipping is only for outlaws and slaves.  Ignoring that throughout history the lash has been used as a method to maintain discipline within the military (not modern military).
Drago did well in his words and actions, and in my opinion showed he is a warrior at heart especially for one that claims not to be of the Scarlet.

I do find it very amusing that the Taharian, who constantly mentions honour and codes would fear to go around with a weapon because he believes Ven would kill an unarmed man.  If Ven made no move to kill the Ubar of Treve who was but 10 feet from him helpless, when Ven's history has him hating anything and all to do with Treve, then he sure isn't going to stoop to slaughter a minor annoyance like the unarmed Taharian.

As for the orders for him to be unarmed, it is simple.  He is a stranger to the Port, that was tried and convicted of a crime, and perhaps I am naive but I feel it is common practice to DISARM criminals so they cannot pose a threat.  Even Tarl was disarmed in Tharna when he was arrested, he was not bound due to giving his word to accompany the guardsmen.  Weapons where drawn on Tarl so why didn't he rant about the codes and take that as a challenge, perhaps because it was not one?

I think one of the key factors in the whole ordeal is how different people interpret the caste codes and general culture of Gor.  I would say that Bayard (Sandman) takes a more piecemeal approach that the codes are independent of each other, while I view them as an interwoven set of codes that weigh on each other and they are not a simple black/white set of actions.

Plus, regardless of whether he is warrior or not, he is a stranger, he attacked citizens and the main duty of a warrior in my opinion is to defend his home and people.  Whether they are right or wrong does not enter into it.  Case in point would be the Lady Merchant (cant recall name) from the edit* Fighting Slave (not Guardsman) book that had significant debts to others outside her homestone, but she could not be touched regardless of evidence and documents as she was protected from outsiders while within the walls of the city.  Then all her debts went to her new friend (Jason's owner) and she was promptly made a slave for failure to pay. Shocked

There is a trick to the game of life. I still haven't figured it out yet but when I do.....I am so going to stand there as you lay curled up on the bed, a quivering puddle of sex

Everyone can certainly decide what IC they want to be but Jeesch....that Sandman certainly picked one (or perhaps it is who he is in RL) that just makes you want to impale him!
