bond-maid ... always of Tyr's Fist

So Ace got me thinking with this Love War stuff ... why not?  We could set up the new sky arena with boxes for the ladies to sit on as they watch their champions ... it could totally be an ic event with like a 3-day cap limit or further, depending on what was agreed to between the ladies and the men that won them.  Not a permanent thing but something to extend the story lines between interested parties.  And without the argument over raid rules and cheating and all that crap.  Think of it like a combination of an ooc auction and an axe tournament.

Thoughts?

No ... no ... no ... just thinking about loud ... it would be planned around other events.  I just want to get some thoughts and start planning now.  It's how I work, lina.  :p

---------------------------------------------------------------

The Love War
An annual challenge celebrated in the spring between Turia and the 4 tribes of the Wagon Peoples of the southern plains.

Thousands of Free Women of both Turia and the Wagons, carefully selected for their beauty, are bound at stakes and put up as prizes for bidding by combat. Men fight in order to acquire the women of their archenemy and keep them as their slaves. Each woman is defended by a champion, a warrior or fighter of her own people who will fight off any wishing to claim her as prize.

Once claim has been laid on a given woman, her champion selects the weapon which will be used in combat and the two men engage in battle under the close scrutiny of judges. Combats generally end with the death of one of the opponents, the winner of the fight taking the other party's Free Woman as slave while the woman he is defending remains free.

More will be found on the traditions of the Wagon Peoples in the pages on specific cultures.

The institution of Love War is an ancient one among the Turians and the Wagon Peoples...The games of Love War, of course, are celebrated every spring...
---Nomads of Gor, 10:115

The theoretical justification of the games of Love War, from the Turian point of view, is that they provide an excellent arena in which to demonstrate the fierceness and prowess of Turian warriors, thus perhaps intimidating or, at the very least, encouraging the often overbold warriors of the Wagon Peoples to be wary of Turian steel. ...
---Nomads of Gor, 10:116

As I knew, not just any girl, any more than just any warrior, could participate in the games of the Love War. Only the most beautiful were eligible, and only the most beautiful of these could be chosen.

Sounds really good and different from trade fairs and market carnivals cos warriors will compete for women and slaves for capture, as they would in battle, but in the setting of the games , hence, cap limits apply.

Psyched for the trade fairs and carnivals comming up aswell, looks like fun times ahead! Smiley

Love wars are regular held in Wagonpeople sims, our Ubara Feorie organised many. Maybe you contact her, she has lots of stuff for the organisation. Such tournaments are always a great initiative but I would not use name Love Wars that would create confusion with the Plains event.

She smiled. "I have grown fond of the smell of bosk," said she. Kamchak smiled. He held his hand to the girl. "Ride with me, Aphris of Turia," said Kamchak of the Tuchuks. Nomads of Gor

I am all for it. To encourage more participation I propose that slaves be allowed to enter as prizes to be fought over as well. I would also like to encourage as many interested cities as possible to enter.

A question to ponder is how to determine who will fight for whom. Some ladies that are better known may have several people who want to fight for her. Do we do some type of drawing to determine combatants?

Thoughts?

Funny enough, there's a little dark Tuchuk girl straight out of the Wagon camps that lives in Minus. She belongs to the beloved urtcatcher, but I bet she's full of information and resources....

Hmmmm ... maybe this part could be more of an auction type event?  50/50 split to the lady in question, other 50 to help support the sim?  Highest bidder gets to defend the lady/slave in question?  I'd love to hear more ideas ...

eeep yes - that would actually add a sense of realism and suspense to it because I was totally planning on bribing the FS or Anarch or Xander haha!   Cheesy

I do like the out of the hat idea too though, mostly to try and mix people up a bit.

B xx

I like it!  Soooo ...

1.  New name to avoid confusion between this event and the wagons' people celebration
2.  Auction type bidding for defenders, 50/50 split of monies to lady and support of sim
3.  Name of defender withheld from the woman to add to element of surprise
4.  Open to both FW and slaves
5.  ic event, 3 day cap limit unless otherwise noted
6.  Hosted by Tyr's Fist in sky arena
7.  Open up to ALL interested sims to promote rp

Anything else?
