_______________________________________________________________________

Teslit on the Vosk is a Gorean sim: a simulation based on the Gor novels by John Norman. It is a Force Collar, Kill, and Capture Zone.  It should be noted that Teslit on the Vosk is a Mature Gorean Role-play sim. Mature scenarios of a sexual nature, violence, and other aspects that might be considered offensive to your personal point of view may be encountered in this sim. As all role-play is consensual, it is not the responsibility of the parties engaged in role-play to shelter you from potential offense; it is your own responsibility to remove yourself. You must be of the legal age of 18 years or older to enter this sim. As this is a role-play sim, phrases and shortcuts of certain words like lol, wtf and so on are not permitted within role-play.

----------------------OOC ((Out of Character)) Situations-------------------------

Teslit on the Vosk discourages the use of OOC in open chat. OOC should be kept to IM. If you should need to use OOC in open chat anyways, keep in mind that it will be monitored by the city officials and you will be held accountable for your words. Failure to show others respect in OOC hinders the RP gaming experience of all, and you may risk a ban. We want to note at this point that OOC usually causes drama and we distance ourselves from it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------Section One: Notes about visitors, avatars, teleporting--------------
Non-Gorean Visitors: You are more than welcome to observe the ongoing role-play in this sim. You are still expected to abide by the Out of Character rules in this section. You may not interact with the role-play, or inhabitants of this sim in open chat, all questions should be taken to IM. You are expected to wear an observer tag (available at the docks).

Observers may observe, ask questions but the girls may only be viewed.  This means no touching or request for services other than dance or drink and only if a Free Gorean agrees! Harassment of any of the slaves will get you banned!

Do NOT try to free the slaves.  They don't want to be freed, they like being slaves, and attempting to do so will only get you laughed at and banned.

Avatars allowed in this sim: Only adult, human of natural appearance or animals indigenous to Gor may be in this sim.  This is a Mature, Gorean Role-Play Sim, if it did not exist on Gor, it does not belong here. No furries, vampires, robots, tonies, nekos or child avatars. Dress is expected to be Gorean in style, fitting for the role you intend to play.

Gorean Role-players: All Gorean’s who enter this sim must wear a combat meter. The meter is required for role-play regardless of your intent to engage in combat.  Our active meter is the Gorean Combat Meter (found on the dock)

Teleporting: The only legitimate entry point in the sim is the boat at the dock. Teleporting someone into an ongoing role-play situation or combat scenario is invalid.

 _____________SAFE ZONES______________

he boat at the dock is the teleport arrival point is a permanent safe zone for the purpose of allowing people to arrive and orient themselves.  The housing area is NOT a safezone.  The dock falls under the laws of Teslit on the Vosk, with the following exception; the dock area is the area outside the city wall and is considered a Free Trade Zone.  Free Trade Zone means; the area is not off limits to Panthers, Outlaws, Mercenaries, Pirates or other such characters.  The area is used then for rp trade, and no character will be harassed as long as the trade remains fair.  Those cheating during trade, or those rp’ing a cheat, are subject to retaliation by the cheated party, or warrant for arrest and prosecution by Teslit on the Vosk.

Except as otherwise provided in this code, no person may be killed, captured or force collared in a safe zone.  A kill, capture, or force collar initiated outside a safe zone may be continued within a safe zone, provided there has been no break in the action.  A safe zone is not exempt from OOC rules except as necessary for the purpose of the safe zone.

Safezone:

The general rule is NO FIGHTING in a safezone.

Violators of this rule will be banned.

The safezone is intended to be an area where no fighting takes place, as opposed to the combat zone. You may not shoot from the safezone into the combat zone.

There are special occasions when fighting may be allowed in the safezone:

  1. During raids or combat: once you have engaged in fighting in the combat zone you can be attacked in the safezone.

  2.  Refusing an Arrest Warrant: If a warrant has been issued for your arrest by the Admin due to breaking a law of the city, and you refuse arrest, you may be attacked.

  3. Arrest by guards: If you are in breach of laws a guard may inform you of such, if you refuse to comply you may be arrested. If you refuse arrest, you may be attacked.

RAIDS:

There is a defender + 1 rule in force here, if you want to raid or rescue you can only have 1 more than the number of defenders present, i.e.:  3 defenders = 4 raiders. Don’t come here with grossly outrageous odds, it is simply unfair and we will invalidate the raid simply on that alone.  (The definition of defender is simply a warrior. FW of Teslit only protect themselves with daggers, hairpins or other such defensive weapons, they are not attackers and in a raid should be running for cover, NOT, engaging in the raid, they should be attempting to escape. And because we had it happen; if FW are brought on a raid, and they engage in anything other than standing and watching, they WILL be counted as raiders, and as such will invalidate the raid. Make sure your counts are correct. If you are not sure, ask a Mod first.)

If you raid here, you invite the residents of this sim to raid your home sim, no rules of that sim will invalidate this, and by raiding here you give us permission to raid you.  If you raid or rescue with allies then you accept the residents of this sim's right to raid or rescue in your home sim with their allies, even if they are panthers.  Further, we do not have a rescue or reprisal blackout period that some sims have, if you raid here, we have the right to rescue or raid without the blackout period, even if your sim does have one, just consider that we hopped onto our own boats and followed you.

We do not have GM RP item generators in Teslit and if you refuse to RP trade and demand only those items, the RP will be ended and our people will come home.

Even though the dynamics of SL allow you to shoot a bow through trees and brush, it is unrealistic and as such; no ranged weapons may be used within the walls of Teslit, with the following exceptions:

-Our warriors may shoot from the walls to the docks, or, at raiders that have entered the city gates, (but may only shoot as they enter the city, they may not continue to shoot as the raiders run further into the city, nor may they continue to sit and snipe from the walls.) And once leaving the wall, they must change to melee weapons.

-Raiders may use bows to shoot at the guards on the walls from outside the walls, or immediately inside the gates, but once entering the city (past the bakery, which is the building to the right of the gate as you enter the gate) must change to melee weapons.

-The use of ranged weapons within our city walls, with all the trees and bushes, would be unrealistic, so they may not be used; this includes bows, throwing daggers and other such hand thrown weapons.

While in our city:

*Do not place, drop, or leave any objects in this sim. If you do you will be banned and ejected.

*Only objects of a Gorean nature will be allowed and tolerated. If it wasn't on Gor, it will not be allowed here.

*Only appropriate Gorean attire and weaponry is acceptable.  No push weapons or guns allowed.  Gorean culture is close to early medieval culture in weapons and clothing.

*All characters in this city will have an adult appearance.   No childlike avatars allowed.

*Griefers will never be tolerated. Griefing is defined as acts, verbal or physical, that cause a detriment to others' role-play and SL experience without consent to do so (i.e. using non-Gorean weaponry or objects or RP, littering the SIM with foreign objects, etc.).  OOC Drama is also not tolerated.

*Abide by our rules.  If not then Warriors and Guards of the city will be dispatched and you will be asked politely to leave. If you do not leave as requested...YOU will be kicked and banned.

Role play in this city will reflect as closely as possible, the series of Gor books written by John Norman.

------A quick note about the Animals you may encounter in Teslit-----

* We have several trained hunting Sleen that may aid the warriors in the event of raids, they are trained to aid the warriors and protect them and the city, they are also scripted to do appropriate damage,  (Remember that a hunting Sleen has been described as 15-20 feet long with a weight of about 1000 pounds, sharp claws and two rows of teeth..so before you complain about the damage, bear in mind we have kept it down considerably.  We believe that 1hit from a Sleen would have disabled even the strongest of men;our Sleen are not quite that strong, but they are very powerful.)

* As far as the damage from our Sleens is concerned: the meter will report it as a duel wield; the delay has been adjusted to slow it down, but our Sleens hit like they should.  (Remember we are talking about a very large dangerous beast here, so yes its single hit is stronger but the hits have been slowed down to a reasonable level.)

* Sleen and Larls do not bind victims; they may guard them, maul them or eat them (in effect killing them).

* Should you be lucky enough to capture one of the Sleen or Larls; remember it will take 4 – 5 men to bind and haul it out.  And leaving a Sleen or Larl bound and alone will allow it to break or chew through the bindings and escape.  The Sleen and Larls will attempt to return home at all times it will not recognize you as its capture.  They may however see you as the one that hurt them, and they most likely will take great offence at that, and you.

 * The Larls here are not kittens, they are wild. They are not to be hunted, they are liked by the city; they keep the rodent and pest population to a minimum.  The Larls see the people of Teslit as odd members of their pride, and have become protective of them.  Attempting to harm or attack members of the pride may attract the attention of the Larls and may result in them becoming aggressive toward you.

* The Larls also being very large creatures would as much damage as a Sleen.  So if a Larl attacks, you will see the reported damage the same as our Sleen, and you likely had it coming.  The Larls are also under the same rules our Sleen are; it will take 4-5 men to bind and drag it out.

One final note on the Sleen and Larls and attacking them; Sleen have very thick skin and the Larl has a thick skull and neither were hunted with bows, they were hunted with spear and sword, so if you drop one of our Sleen or Larl with a bow, they have sim mod permission to reset their meter and continue on with the combat (even if it was only 1 arrow that finished them), and you do not have any recourse to complain. References to the Sleen and Larl are in the Luthor scrolls # 37 for the Larl and #87 for the Sleen.

----------------Section Two: Notes about Weapons, Combat, Raids---------------

 1:  WEAPONS

Only Gorean or medieval-equivalent type weapons are permissible in Teslit on the Vosk.  These include: swords, bows, crossbows, daggers, throwing axes, and hair pins.  PUSH WEAPONS, GUNS, ONE-HIT KICKS OR SCRIPTED GRIEFING WEAPONS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED.  IN ADDITION, NO SHIELDS, DOUBLE HIT EGGS, SUPER JUMPS, SPRINTS OR ANY OTHER SCRIPTED DEFENSE THAT WOULD CAUSE AN UNFAIR FIGHT, INCLUDING WEARING TWO HEALTH METERS.  VIOLATION OF THIS RULE IS PUNISHABLE WITH SUSPENSION OR AN IMMEDIATE BAN. NO SPACEBAR RUNNING ALLOWED! --NO JUMP FIGHTING--

Jumping in combat requires RP.

1a: only one weapon may be used at a time, another words you either use malee or bow, not both, you may switch with proper rp but if your weapons show malee and arrow hit one after another, it will be invalidated, you will be warned and if happened again banned from the sims.

-BANNED WEAPONS in Teslit on the Vosk...This list can be altered at any time by the Admin or Mods of the sim at their discretion.

We currently have no weapons banned in Teslit, however, if there is question of weapons legality, a mod may demand that it is tested or otherwise verified through the Gorean Weapons Council group.

No complaints about weapons "not working" will be acknowledged.  It is up to you to make sure your weapon works before engaging in combat here, not us.

Sheaths will be worn on all weapons used, if you are concerned about lag remove your hair before your sheaths, no exceptions, we do not allow anyone to pull a bow out their ass.

COMMON LAWS
1) Except as otherwise provided by this code, all activity in Teslit on the Vosk should be in the furtherance of role play. Players shall keep out of character (OOC) conversations to a minimum and must use IM, double parentheses (( )) in chat or SL /22 OOC chat attachment when speaking in out of character interpretations.

2) Foul language, real-life animosity or threats, and other OOC drama will not be tolerated in Teslit on the Vosk.

3) Modern slang such as "lol" "brb" "kk" "wtf" "cya" "r u done?" is not appropriate in role play.  Further, we do not allow or recognize kassar as a form of Gorean speach.

4) The role-play in this city is strictly Gorean:

             A) Furries, sprites, undead, or other non-human avatars, are NOT permitted

             B) We do not allow any weapons not permitted by the Priest-Kings. (Weapons of a medieval nature are allowed.)

             C) Metal armor other than metal breastplates, helmets and shields is not permitted.

             D) Modern clothing; slaves with silks and heels and other mixing of attire is not appropriate and will not be allowed, dress appropriately for the RP.

5) Citizens and visitors to Teslit on the Vosk shall at all times demonstrate respect for Free Women.  Free Women are defined in the section below concerning them.

6)  Crimes against the Home Stone, which might include, but are not limited to, theft of the Home Stone, vandalism of the Home Stone, treason, sedition, forgery of the city symbol on unapproved products, are subject to banishment, torture and death by impaling.

7) Any person may apply for Teslit on the Vosk citizenship by submitting an application to the Admin, Ambassador, Commander or Chief Scribe any of whom may interview the applicant. The Chief Scribe with counsel from the Administrator shall thereafter grant or deny the application. All citizenship papers shall remain on file with the Scribes.  Citizenship is a privilege, not a right, and thus it must be earned. You are expected to owe your allegiance to the city and work at supporting that city.  All citizens shall show respect and deference appropriate to a Free person's caste at all times.

8 ) Each Caste will maintain and regulate its own guidelines and expectation for admission and continued acceptance into their Caste. Each individual Caste will also maintain its own Codes of Conduct.

9) In the event that a citizen of the city wishes to change their Caste, a decision must be made by the Administrator and agreed upon by both the elected High Member of the citizen's current Caste and their intended Caste.

9a) In the event that a Head of Caste wishes to step down or be replaced by another.  They must bring it before the Elders for a vote.

10)  Any citizen of the city may petition to be heard before the Admin of the city, for the purpose of proposing legislation or to air grievances.  The citizen should first bring the matter to the elected high member of their respective castes by submitting a Writ of Grievance that can be obtained from any city Scribe. If of the lower castes, the elected high member of the lower caste will then bring the matter before the Admin.

11) The judiciary, in both civil and criminal matters, will be upheld by the Caste of Scribes.  Magistrates appointed by the Chief Scribe will preside over these proceedings.  Judicial proceedings may be brought before the Admin upon the request of the presiding Magistrate.

12) The negotiation of trade or military alliances will be solely the responsibility of the High Council.   All alliances will be approved or denied by the High Council. Declarations of war may be made only by the Elders, and they alone, will make the formal declaration. All alliance documents will be filed in the Scribery.

13) A Free person may challenge another free person to a duel, but that free person is not obligated to accept. All duels and challenges between free people should be arranged between the parties involved and should take place in the arena and be witnessed by a neutral 3rd party.

14) Properly documented Fighting Slaves may only be used in defense of their owners or employers after the attacker approaches with a drawn weapon or during competition in the Arena. The use of fighting slaves as offensive weapons will cause their Owners to be subject to imprisonment and/or enslavement. For further definition of the rules regarding Fighting Slaves see the Fighting Slave Permit available in the city Scribery.

15) All persons legally killed during role-playing will be considered dead for a period of 24 hours (1 day).  The dead may observe but not interact during these 24 hours.

16) Members of the Assassins’ Caste, bearing the mark of the ‘Black Dagger’ on their forehead, are permitted entrance into a city without interference, however will have to provide documentation to the validity of their hunt if challenged.

17) Heralds and Ambassadors may enter the city to make their official announcement. Members of the following castes: Players, Poets, Musicians, and Singers may also freely enter the city; these castes shall never be armed.

18) All new city slaves are to report to the Master Slaver within 48 hours.  Slaves will be given a new city slave folder and should begin to read and understand the slave guidelines. Any questions about slave guidelines should be brought to the Slaver or first girl of Teslit on the Vosk.

19) The slaver or citizen that has captured or otherwise collared a city slave is required to provide documentation of collaring and file slave papers with the city Scribery within 72 hours. City slaves should understand that they are going to be held as a white silk slave of the city for a period of two weeks, regardless of their previous skill level.

20) New Citizens cannot collar a city girl/boy for their first 30 active days.  However, the mandatory courtship period of two weeks may begin at the Citizens 15th active day anniversary.

21) Citizens of the same house may only purchase a city slave once every 6 months. This allows other citizens opportunity to purchase a slave and keep the flow of city slaves.

22) It is suggested that all Citizens and slaves put their RL time zone in their profile.  This helps with scheduling of meetings and classes, as well as enhancing our ability to role play as a city.

23) No city slave shall be freed or sold with out the Admin’s final approval. This law overrides all others in Teslit on the Vosk rules regarding city slave sales.

24) Force Collar in the village of Teslit on the Vosk lasts for 3 days from the time of collaring.  After which time, you may choose to remain in a city collar of Teslit on the Vosk or leave.

 WOMEN

This Code and Gorean customs apply to citizen and non-citizen Free Women in the Teslit on the Vosk. (For purposes of this section a Free Woman is any female that is not a slave.)  For purposes of this code:

    - There were NO female Mercenaries on Gor; we do not recognize them.

1)  Panthers will be exempt from rules requiring modest attire; they will be accepted in the typical dress of panthers of skins and hides within the Free Trade Zone only. Upon challenge by a Guard or Warrior, a Panther shall identify her tribe.

All panthers who are tribeless, showing lack of their tribal insignia (in RP this is their group tag and mention of their tribe in their profile), will be considered Free Women and therefore should be appropriately dressed as Free Woman.  If not appropriately dressed they may be imprisoned or enslaved.

2) A Free Woman is expected to behave according to the established laws of Gor.  Wearing of a veil is not required in Teslit on the Vosk.  (It would not be considered appropriate for a FW of High Caste on Gor to go without one, but there are those that did not wear veils. The wagon peoples are one example. There are others and we will not regulate veils, save to say that typically women of Gor would pretty much always be veiled, but it is your choice to be veiled or not.)  Free woman's dress will be modest and respectful; this means no exposed breasts, legs, ankles, shoulders.

3) Free Women of Teslit on the Vosk and visiting Free Women are permitted in the tavern and any time, however, will have no right to complain of what goes on there. If the Free Woman is offended, she has but to find the door.

4)  A Free Woman can wear any modest jewelry she pleases, and may decorate herself however she likes. The only instance in which a Free Woman would wear earrings is if she was previously a slave and her ears were pierced. No Free Woman would willingly have her ears pierced.

5) Any Free Woman found to be carrying or brandishing weapons may be subject to imprisonment. Weapons for Free Women include daggers and hair pins and must be concealed. Examples of improper weapons would be 'male weapons' such as, swords, long bows or any other large weapon. Free woman are not to engage in arena combat except during pre-arranged special events where they would be allowed to participate.

6) Face-stripping or non-consensual sex with a Free Woman is illegal. Sex between a Free Woman and her Free Companion is conclusively presumed to be consensual.  Free Women may also couch their own red silk kajira/kajirus but are not to touch those owned by others. If this law is broken they are subject to imprisonment.

7)  A Free woman can sell herself into slavery but once the transaction is completed, it is too late for her to revoke it.

8 ) A Free Woman may voluntarily submit herself to another Free Person. Voluntary submissions must be witnessed by at least one other Free Person. The person receiving the submission may:

            A) Accept the submission, or kill the submitting FW.

            B) In the case of a raid: kill the person submitting, or accept the submission on behalf of the village of Teslit on the Vosk, which shall be mandatory for submissions received by guards, slavers, and persons acting as greeters for the city.

9) If a Free Woman kneels in nadu before a man, this is sufficient to make her a slave.  Her actions are interpreted as a gesture of submission. A Free Woman may kneel in the Free Woman tower pose (this is the same as the slave tower but do not cross their wrists before them or hold their palms up).

10) A Free Woman who is the Free Companion of another, will not be enslaved, unless by her own act of submission.  However, in so taking this Free Companion as a slave, there should be some sort of compensation paid to her former Free Companion.

11) A Free Man who saves the life of a Free Woman, and, he is not her Free Companion or Protector, thereby gains the right to enslave her or receive compensation in the amount of her fair market value as a slave. The Free Woman, her companion or her Protector may challenge a claim to such right, and the Administrator or the Magistrate will rule.

12) NO Free Woman of Teslit on the Vosk may be enslaved, by a citizen of Teslit on the Vosk, without direct orders from the Elders.  The reasons will be presented before the members in a special session of Council and argument will be heard from both sides.  If the FW has committed an enslavement offence she may indeed be collared, if it is deemed a lesser offence the Elders will rule on her punishment.

_____________________________________________________________

SLAVES - GENERAL LAWS

(In Concordance with the City Slave Laws)

Slave refers to any person owned by another person.

Owner refers to a person who owns a slave.

"Own" and "Ownership" mean the right to possess and control a slave under these laws or the laws of a city recognized by Teslit on the Vosk.

1) A slave is the property of their Owner and may be used, disposed of, or destroyed as the Owner sees fit.

2) Any Teslit on the Vosk Citizen, who owns slaves, shall file all ownership records with the Scribe of Teslit on the Vosk within 3 days of the collaring.

3) A Slave not properly registered with the city within two weeks of the Owner becoming a Citizen of Teslit on the Vosk, or their collaring, whichever is later, shall be subject to seizure by the city.

4) No owner shall negligently allow his/her slave to be outside the owner's residence without a collar, which shall include a statement of ownership in his/her profile.

5) A runaway slave shall be held by the city.  If the Owner does not lay claim within seven days, the slave becomes the property of the City and the former Owner shall have no further claim. The former owner may though apply to buy the slave back at market value as deemed by the Head Slaver or Administrator.

6) An Owner who fails to make in-world contact with his slave for a period in excess of 14 days shall be deemed to have abandoned them, and ownership of them shall automatically be conveyed to their Protector, the Owner's Free Companion, or the City, in that order. Likewise a slave who has not made in-world contact with their Owner for a period in excess of 14 days will be considered a runaway and hunted as such.

7) The freeing of a slave must be witnessed by at least one other Free Person. All records of the freeing of a slave must be filed with the Chief Scribe within one day of such event.

8 ) No slave shall purposely or negligently strike a Free Person, except as described by the Fighting Slave Permit. Violation of this is punishable by death by impalement.

9) No slave shall purposely or negligently bear or touch arms except at the direct instruction of their Owner and in the Owner's presence. It is an affirmative defense under this section that the slave is a Fighting Slave bearing arms at the direction of their Master for defensive purposes. However fighting slaves must be properly documented to be able to wear or use weapons outside of the arena, they must also be accompanied by their owner or employer. Those not properly documented are subject to punishment up to and including death if the actions of the slave so warrants. Documented fighting slaves may use the arena only if they are accompanied by their owner, protector, employer, a Warrior or Guard of Teslit on the Vosk or special consideration has been granted.  Paperwork must then be carried to prove this if challenged.

10) No person other than their owner shall purposely have sexual intercourse with a public or private white-silk slave.

11) The owner of a slave is liable; for damages resulting from his slave's actions; criminally for his slave's actions to the same extent as the slave, provided it shall be an affirmative defense to liability under this section that the owner took all reasonable measures to prevent the slave's action.

12) No person shall purposely interrupt a slave in the performance of any task assigned to them by their Owner. The interruption in a brief exchange of greetings or other ordinary courtesies is not considered an interruption in this case.

13) No person shall purposely violate an Owner's restriction on their slave. Additionally, the perpetrator may be ordered to pay damages to the owner.

14) A Free Person may punish a city slave at any time, for any reason, but shall be liable in damages to the city for maiming or killing the slave.

15) A person displeased by a privately owned slave shall not punish that slave except as authorized by the owner, and shall be subject to challenge, damages, or both for harm caused by exceeding the authorization. Free Persons are encouraged to notify the Owner of any slave acting or speaking in an improper manner.

16) There are 2 silk levels used in Teslit on the Vosk to help denote slave training and experience. The levels are white silks and red silks (both may be restricted or unrestricted).

Fighting slaves are slaves trained in the arts of weapons and if properly documented may serve as their owners guards. Fighting slaves must have Fighting Slave Permits registered with the city Scribes.

17)  Slaves are expected to ask permission to leave if any free person is within chat range. Exceptions would be if the free do not answer after two requests are made, or a free has already dismissed the slave.

18) Slaves of the city are not required to ask permission to enter public buildings. Slaves should ask permission to enter private quarters unless they have been invited to enter. Slaves not of the city should beg to enter public buildings unless they are accompanied by a free person.

19) Slaves are not to speak in third person, unless told to do so for the purpose of punishment, and will cease when around any other citizen.

20) IF any citizen of the City is killed, the slave of the dead person becomes property of their Protector, the beneficiary designated in a Will, or Teslit on the Vosk, in that order and is to be defended by the Warriors of Teslit on the Vosk. Ownership of slaves may be returned to the dead upon their resurrection at the approval of the Administrator.

21)  While city slaves are required to attend classes, privately owned slaves of citizens of Teslit on the Vosk, may also attend any and all city classes free of charge.

22) No City slave may be released, sold or traded in a manner unless approved by the Admin.

23) Slaves will sit in nadu, kneel or bracelets when a Master is present. If "ONLY" FW are present slaves will tower. If a Master joins the FW that slave will change from tower without Question.

I have not come across a wild larl or sleen in Teslit.  Perhaps our Admin has some plans for the future but nothing yet.  I will ask the question though if they appear.

how about shields? There is one point in the rules that says "NO SHIELDS", then another saying the only metal armor allowed are breastplates, helmets and shields. so, my question is: "Are shields allowed or not?"
