Now as you roleplay you will find that many people will have their own perceptions of your character. You will be amazed at how people perceive your avatar-often it may or may not be how you see your little avatar.

How have you perception of your avatar by others? Did it make you do any changes in your roleplay?

Oh Dove what a good topic!

I'm not actually sure how people perceive my avatar - would be fascinating to know.

For what it's worth I see Dove as strong, proud, doesn't tolerate fools gladly, intelligent and more than capable of using her wit and words against men. - and thats just from reading the RP posted on here as we haven't met yet IC,

The one thing I am concerned about with my character (and an IM I got this week made me realise it happens)  is people who don't understand that I am -acting- a part!

Bella the character is a spoilt, vain, and wilful brat.  She really does think she is a queen/princess lol.  She is surrounded in drama - IC/RP drama.  Generating storylines.

Isabella (yes it's my name) the RL person is really quite easy going, thinks she is a minnow in a large pond, hates drama and mostly wants a peaceful life.

Worrying that people judge me, the person behind the screen, by the actions of my character makes me feel a little inhibited but I am trying to shrug it off.

I don't think the assassins are murderers in real life after all Grin

people who mix the ooc perceptions of real people with their avatar cartoons should be taken out and slapped into reality of "get a grip kiddio, this is a cartoon puppet we control and say/write/do anything we want to with it-it's a puppet toy!".
Don't let anyone inhibit your roleplaying your avatar and letting them have wild adventures and have certain character traits etc.etc.

Well now back to roleplay perceptions of avatars and impressions they give us:

Example:

Xaz is the smiling killer, Carries around a easy going personality, he dresses the part, is full of charm, lightness fun, gives out candy then... with a sweet smile, will pull a dagger and mercilessly slit a throat. It's a contract fulfilled.  The scary part of Xaz is that players think they might have a chance, then find out there is none.

Koh in his time by contrast was the cold essence of a killer, sparing of words, and with about as much emotion as a rock. No one even had any hope if he came onto  a sim with a dagger on the forehead. His presence filled a place and made folks nervous just because of the manner he dressed, stood and sparsely emoted.

Going to a female example:
Serene is the female musician without any scruples or morals-the woman should be collared or branded as a thief or jailed for some of the things she gets away with!!!..but her talent with words and actions bails her out everytime, she's too useful. She doesn't wear a veil, dresses to her caste, and is capable of lifting or grabbing any opportunity to feed her greed of coin, she is brilliant in her songs and verse, which makes her popular OR unpopular if you make the mistake of doing something around her you don't want immortalized in verse. She travels the lands with her pen and instrument over her back with an eye to the treasures and information.

Oh yeah Isabella interesting observations about Dove. *chuckles*

Its difficult when I read IM's saying 'Bella causes drama' or 'Bella acts like a queen' because i'm not sure if they mean IC or OOC and in my mind the 2 are firmly separated.
IC yes i do make her an egotistical brat - but if people have a problem with that they should say it in RP not bitch OOC as its actually quite hurtful!

I -do- try very hard to create IC drama and storylines - i'm not at ALL interested in going down the FW route of companioning, babies etc -  but I would never judge those who do enjoy that.

I've even been told in IM to just take a FC to stop the IC drama..   umm no ta!

plus most of the controversial RP I get caught up in I don't even plan - I just roll with it Cheesy

Black Caste Assassin

« 17. October 2010, 15:10:21 »
To me, It seems most people I encounter are a little more....festive in their mannerisms and persona when compared to myself. I take being Black Caste seriously enough that it fits with a persona I've role-played for several years. While I was not always a killer, the attitude was there. Dove your perception of both Xaz and I are spot on what we strive for.

Though if I had to compare myself to other killers, there would be several of us that would share my grim style RP. Some take it even further by being down right morbid. To me, Killing in SL-Gor is simply a job. I do not take satisfaction in the act of killing. I do not get excited when my blade ends the life of another. To me and many other killers out there, its just another coin earned. Some of us approach how we go about our kills a bit differently than others. Some will use fear to their advantage. Some will even try and befriend you. Others will decieve you, make you believe someone else is their mark when the truth is, your the mark. And yes, there are those of us so bold, we challenge the mark openly.
Logged

The mark on my forehead is not so much a symbol of who I hunt as it is a testament to my skill. I, as a member of the Black Caste, have not earned this mark easily.

Serene wontget collared, she has this quote in her profile that its illegal in most cities to collar a musician... so i doubt she will roleplay it. Course, if i catch her stealing in Minus...anything is possible.

Remember as you post, give impressions OF what other characters you know and what your avatar percieves of them.
I gave Koh, Xaz and Serene as examples, they're NOT ooc like that, *grins* but that's how their avatars are played and how I as a roleplay see their traits and actions

So post impressions!! of others you roleplay with!

Mordachai Draegonne -met him briefly in Teslit, he took coin to protect the Teslit village at the time, impression was a typical mercenary, just a job to be hired for, he dressed in some brown rough leathers, armed, had one of those hard bitten attitudes of "yeah, I'm here, hired, gonna guard the village, better make sure my pay is on time" routines..he gave the impression he would do what was needed and nothing more then what was to be done.

OOC - I love mord, he's a great guy!

IC - tricky one - he is completely dependable and a great escort, very honourable in Bella's opinion.  As a high ranking officer she would trust him to do the right thing.
But at the same time - there is tension there - she thinks he is arrogant, stubborn and we argue a lot.

wow - I had no idea I was perceived as amoral and unscrupulous  Wink

Dove to Serene is a source of leads, coin and gossip.  IC Serene is more than aware of Doves strength of mind, her cunning, some of her history  and her dark side.  After being poisoned by Dove with tassa and being dragged to the jail... it dawned on Serene that they have IC a relationship that mutally benefits both of them for their own ends.  Sometimes this is forgotten, and a more open friendly attitude prevails where they act just as two free women gossiping and comparing *art* or reading the newspaper together in the Inn .... but.. Serene is ALWAYS aware that Dove would hand her in to the magistrate without a qualm if it benefitted her....

There are not many people Serene would NEVER try to get one over on, but Dove is one of them.  This was even stated in RP recently - she was injected with something in RP by a BAD man with a syringe (ballad to come later), and, to Serene, if Dove died, that would be cutting off a major supply of coin for the work she does for her, both legal and illegal,  so would obviously try and save her.  Other people she would leave dying and ransack their rooms and their person for anything of value before disappearing..  There is a mutual respect due to shared traits and a need sometimes for each others skills... -  Oh yes, dont believe she is the law-abiding citizen she wants you to believe she is....

Maria IC is also an interesting character.  Outwardly she is sensible, hard working, reasonable... the head merchant.  But, being a peasant, she is also always ready to make more coin than she has.  Maria and I have a new storyline blossoming that wont surprise anyone Serene is involved, but Maria... Huh   Get ready to see a new side to this dark secretive horse.

Hi Mord..

Actually, I have been collared a few times, so dont judge me by my OOC profile..  Where do I say those quotes are my RP limits ??  Nowhere.  My limits are clearly on my SL first page.. keep it gorean.  Would I use the excuse to try and avoid it?  Of course.  BUT I go with the RP consequences of my actions as a FW in RP.

I was recently stripped, sent to Cos in silks, for the Ubar to do with me what he liked.  I never once got in his IMs and said *dont collar me, dont torture me, dont do this, dont do that*.  What I did do was IC try and convince him that it was bad luck to collar a musican, and I could be much more useful as a spy.  And it worked.

I also owe my life to a killer who could have easily in his rights collared me.  In both instances I used my brain and showed both I could be of far more use alive, free, and working for them in other ways that would benefit them.

If you caught me stealing in Treve, and really believed I was more useful as a slave to you, I would not back out of the RP.... but would I try and continually get you to free me again ?? .. of course I would.  would I play the adoring devoted slave?  No.  You would end up killing me and I would start again.  Thanks for the warning  Wink

Yes the silks Serene was sent in was the results of my conversation with the Ubar Xander who hearing Serene hollaring and demanding clothing after they stripped her to check for any illegal possessions, told me to order a slave who dressed in lavish pink silks to give up her silks to Serene " (which was hysterical roleplay as the slave, roleplayed all her own misery and sobbing of giving up her gorgeous silks  to perfection over to Serene, and Serene's outrage at that)

Ah Maria, the head merchant of Ka`Zahr, she's a mix of characteristics, she's got a soft side, and will do what she wants in the name of love *tsks over that* but she's one of those merchants that really know the meaning of her codes, that being being rich and getting the better of every deal. She's very very shrewd, seeing her in action with bartering is a treat, always a soft pedal of words with a goal in mind, to her code and own benefit.

I haven't met enough people long enough to be able to write about em all decently!

Dove - Seemed pretty crazy and hyperactive to me. Not someone Anarch would easily feel comfortable around. Wink

Serene - Mhmm... met her briefly in the tavern of Ka'zhar... she brought drinks to the table so she seemed to know her place as a woman! Wink

Bella - Well yes, always seen her behaving spoiled and all that... but that's how Trevan FW are after all. Treated like princesses and spoiled to get whatever they want. It's even literally like that in the books, so hey.. keep it up!

Mord - Even tho he's my Captain I haven't met him much ICly. Always seems busy with the ladies...

Now for Anarch I've recently started trying to specifically try and put the "ruthless" back in the BtB description of Trevan men. I hope that will become apparent as I RP along... Wink

I haven't had a lot of roleplay experience with many of you (unfortunately), but here are my thoughts...

Dove: a really delightful character who is not shy in the least, but can act that way if she thinks it beneficial.  She is full of wit and charm.  I really admire the fact that she does her best to involve others in her roleplay.  She also does not hesitate to put others in their place when they need it.

Mercy: fun loving, willing to get involved in anything that is exciting and possibly a bit unconventional.  He is dependable, and always full of good advice.  He always, always finds his eye straying to the closest slave, and in my view, does his best to interact with them in out of the ordinary ways.

Lina: always out there in terms of rp... pushing things to the edge and beyond.  It is always a pleasure to read her exploits in here, and the few times i've been able to rp with her in Minus I've really enjoyed.

Daved: When i first met him, he was in disguise, and i had a ton of fun interacting with him as a metalworker.  I found him to be flexible with the rp, adding whatever was needed to make it flow smoothly with an edge.  He was intriguing, always popping up when least expected.  His gift of almond cookies, and actually just his presence around me, were enough to arouse intense jealousy in my former companion.

I'm hoping to get involved in a lot more rp with everyone here.  You are all great roleplayers, and if anyone has any advice how i can make my roleplay more interesting, i would appreciate all comments.

*laughs*... Oh Anarch...I love serving in the Inn and meeting all the disorientated visitors that find themselves in Ka'zar..  where else can I get them drunk, hear their secrets or lace their drinks with tassa to steal their pouches?  I have been known to shove a slave in a cupboard so I can serve and just *accidently* brush myself or fall against visitors, having a quick feel for where the appropriate bulge is - the bulge of the pouch of course.  If you hadnt have had to make your quick escape, who knows what would have happened??   Wink

As I've yet to meet any of you that have posted thus far, I'll have to keep it to those I know from interactions in Tyr's Fist....

Rae:  My woman....what else can I say about her?  Hmmm.  Well, she's demure for a Jarl's Woman, but isn't afraid to let others know when she's displeased. Unlike other Jarl's Women, she doesn't demand that bond-maids serve clothed in the longhouse in her presence.  And she's loyal to her man to a fault, even after he pulls the furs over her head after he's ripped a particularly raunchy fart.  *grins*

Erin:  A sister by adoption, but you would likely never be able to tell it by the rivalry that exists between she and I.  Her mind is always working on some sort of mischief, like a child of Loki.

Autumn:  My loving half-sister.  A skilled healer, she is loyal to family and village, but she has a darker side, one marred by her past.  Losing her FC and her child at a young age, she is haunted by a deep sadness that is evident in her eyes.  She also has a fiery temper when riled and doesn't let the bond-maids get out of line around her.

Eden:  My bond-maid.  Always does what is expected of her, never hesitating in her tasks.  To the pleasure of her Jarl, she regales him with stories and customs from her native New York City, tidbits of which sometimes find their way into his vocabulary.

Toivha:  A mysterious man who will rise to the occasion when his skills are in need.  He's swift with the axe and sword, takes a strong hand with the bond-maids, and isn't afraid to tell it like it is.

Cullin:  A strong, aggressively willed individual who is fiercely loyal to his village.  A man of few words, he'll stand up for what he believes is right, even if that means he's got to be a bastard about it.

Aislynne:  An obedient bond-maid who has come to grips with her condition on Gor and has thrived in the process.  She does whatever she can to extend the hospitality of the hall to our guests.

Caethes:  Also an obedient bond-maid and one who doesn't hesitate to jump on a job when it needs to be done.  She has a saucy wit and sense of humor.

Aine:  Although I haven't had that much interaction with this girl, she seems to take pride in her cooking, which is delicious, and her reputation suggests that she enjoys the slaughter of animals and preparing the meat and other consumables from the carcass.

Lina/Dung/Fat Bosk:  She's a pretentious slave that seems to believe that what she thinks isn't written all over her face.  While she tries hard to keep a pleasant facade, her eyes betray her as being full of shit.

Now, as for myself, here recently, I've been told that I'm scary.  I invite elaboration on how others perceive my avatar.
