Many times folks find themselves trying to figure out what to roleplay with someone. Its tough, and I've been there many many times myself. And when I'm at a loss, And  instead of the routine of food and drink, I start talking about tarns. In real life we talk about the weather, well, many times, tarns are my "weather" conversation.
The other roleplay filler and help point is gossip about other roleplay going on, this is always good if there is some roleplay going on that you know about. Here's where forums are great for it, rumors to spread and put your own speculations on in character!! you don't have to get it right!! it's gossip!
But people really need some *hook* to interact with you, something to start roleplay going.
I always try to be rather public about my roleplay, posting in forums, pulling in other players or letting people *overhear* conversations. Why? because that can assist people to roleplay into it, talk about it, and even at a point be join in with others.

So what hooks and help do you use to get roleplay going and include others?

great topic Dove!!

Yes same here like you. I love group rp and its usually very easy to accomplish in Minus.. lol, Just cuz a bit of drama IC over something and walla!.. I do think of rp ideas at times and I may IM people and ask if they wanna join, even ppl i dont know particularly or rped with them once. Same with others with me too. I try to make a storyline that is realistic and achievable as I can and I know. Though most of my rps are unplanned and a lot of times rp takes a whole unexpected direction, which is cool! I roll with it. I love excitement as does anyone else really.. and I feel IC drama is really fun as long as you dont take it to an ooc level.. So if you start a storyline, go on with it, etc.. make it bigger.. then more people will be involved and such. Follow up with rp with make the storylines become much more evolved and fun! I do find the forums really useful in this too.

I can give an example here.. the rp with Xaz, it was very small initially. Though it grew bigger and involved many. Lina became mad as a cow and raised prices, causing havoc and decided her Inn is pure luxury. she is in deep debt and desperate so she tries to trick people into giving her more money etc and this rp has been going on ever since non stop! lol All the while XAz also IC is preparing for this and comes leaves a message to lina, etc..... so the rp is followed up and is more fun and inclusive to whoever wants.

Another one, is rp with Asea.. She started spreading rumors over lina murdering Wanita, so people gossiping etc (made it bigger- thanks guys!) and lina going nuts on it and becoming defenesive everytime someone even mentions wanita. Course, everyone is scared to eat the freaking soup now  Angry lol

Hmm can think of many things, but yeah.. sum it up, what you said Dove!

Malcomb of Treve

« 21. October 2010, 16:58:55 »
I think this is a great topic.  Many of us, myself included can find ourselves sitting around moping about being bored.  But, it doesn't actually take that much to engage others and get the ball rolling.  Even if all you do is claim and injury and get an infirmary full of greens busy.  Physicians tend to be beautiful ladies, so I personally have no trouble with them fussing over me.

On a larger scale, I have recently been breaking our of the same old raid/rape/release humdrum that can become all a warrior waits for.  I did a small scale RP that ended up including many people from 4 sims.  We all had fun.

So get out there and make things happen.  That person sitting over there might just be thrilled to get into it.

A small thing that happened once lead to months of ongoing RP For me that to this day still has a part in Kyss's story.

When she was a slave girl in Kar...a she-urt was selling herbs. Some of the herbs the girl called "mystery" herbs.  Kyss recognized them as marjiuana leaves.  Her Master bought them, and she then proceeded to make pot brownies for him and the blacksmith.  She kept some of the seeds that were with the marijuana and planted it in a boot that she carried around Kar and tended.  The pot plant went with her to Salernum at one point.  And when she moved to Treve...the pot plant got transplanted into a pot that sits in the corner of her room now.  Occasionally when I'm bored I'll rp gathering the materials and she'll make pot brownies and have a hoot.

And for those BTBers that would say that this isn't valid...I say pooohy on you! If they can bring coffee over as blackwine it's highly plausible that someone could smuggle over some pot and somehow it made it's way to my girl. So don't ruin my fun and I won't ruin yours.

They don't bring the coffee over Kyss, they grow it in Thentis region..but..maybe the original plant came from Earth?  Idk!  I won't poop on your parade since I trust Maria to stock me with all sorts of random goods which came from Earth to poison *by that I mean add extra flavour and love* Vic's food Smiley

All I have to do if I'm bored is fart within 20 meters of someone.  That usually gets the ball rolling.  Grin

I publish and share my cooking role plays on the Omen Valley Website and in the Turian Plains IM group. Normally I am the head cook, as a nomad free women, but i often need slaves to particpate, to clean carcasses of dead animals, or a kajirus to climb in a high tree to get chestnuts. Bij publishing the RP, people know that activity is going on, even in hours the are not there. And I always enjoy when people particpate in that role play.

I enjoy playing off of others roleplay, and can play off of it even months later, but I do have a little difficulty starting a RP scenario from scratch.  My character has gotten a little bit bolder lately, and isn't above being shady, so I think this will allow me to go off in other directions than I normally do.

...and yes Rayzor... should you fart anywhere in my vicinity....you'd get more roleplay than you bargained for.
