@pomegranate

Yes, I can agree to this statement now. I was quite sure, that you meant it in roleplay, but statements like these can be dangerous. Someone going to some open discussion board, wanting to know something about Gor in SL might get a shock and talk bad of Gor with everyone they meet when reading that you need to like rape when playing Gor.

So misunderstandings solved. Smiley

Thats why I am absolutly pro roleplay limits as long as they do not touch the heart of what Gor is. A Kajira that has the roleplay limit "I will not obey to the order of any male" can not play Gor, because Gor is about male domination. "No Mutiliation" on the contrary absolutly fits into Gor, because it might happen somewhere, that you get tortured and mutiliated, but this is far away from the essence and the heart of Gor.

Agreed Kilthoran!
That is exactly what I wanted to say in my posts. There is a personal limit! And this limit has to be respected! Nevertheless, rapes and such things I never would a gree to in RL! And I agree with you if you say: "I won't ever rape in RP". But nevertheless rapes will happen, as they are a part of Gor. In fact you touch there a very sensible topic: SL is not RL, in no way! And I doubt, if all of the players do see this, if they can clearly separate! I would tend to say: Many of them don't see it. To me, as a sim owner it is the most conflicting topic. I do see in RL that brutality increases more and more. We seem loose more and more relation between "reality and fiction"; as brutality is seen every day more or less life in tv, on the internet.

So my conflict is in fact: Do I to support brutality in RL by offering sims in Gor?

Gor is fascinating, Gor is a counter world. Gor gives us many opportunities to find out more about ourselves and others. Gor is an interactive game, you have to type while you sit in your chair. Gor is life communication. And Gor implies brutality, the other side of the coin. Now, brutality may be a filter for those who play. (To me it is most interesting to watch how many people shoot around, how few do rp in words.)

The point is: As long as I can see that people come together to act in RP by seeing that there is no looser in any RP-situation, as long I can take the responsability towards myself, to offer those sims. RP always must be a win-win situation, whatever the role is you are in. And beleive me I often doubt in this, due to all the dramas I had to solve on the sims. But, as long as I can see a majority of RPers can see this my approach, I will do my best, to offer a good base. Thru the time I have been running my sims

I do state more and more: It is a question of ripeness of the RPers joining Gor. Don't get me wrong: I did not write "age", I wrote "ripeness", maturity. One reason I do spend my time in writing posts is because I feel this resonsability in me, I want to show the backgrounds to newcomers, I want to transport my vision of the sense of RP to those who do RP. That day I would have to say to myself: "Guru" you support brutality", that day would be the death of my sims; - and beleive me, there were some situations I was nerby to kill them.

Once more, I already said it in another post: Name me a bloody idealist, but I beleive in humanity!
* Guru Randwick scratches his head while he is reviewing his text: Not easy to couch such a "complex" topic; - I doubt it would be easier if I had done it in my mother-tongue; - I hope someone will be able to decrypt the sense of the above written text, will be able to "catch" my point of view, my 5 cents.  Wink

We choose to rp in Gor, we choose to play out a fantasy of a world where rape, abuse, kidnapping is not unusual, but actually a social norm.  I play a slave and expect this kind of treatment, it is the role I chose to play.  It is a consequence that I am aware of and still choose to roleplay.  If you find rape and slavery offensive and morally wrong, perhaps gor isn't for you.
Anyone has the right to say stop -- I hope its in IM and not open chat-- everyone has the right to turn off the computer, everyone has the right to not enter a gor sim.

Gor is about more than slavery for me, no doubt.  But I do not ignore it, more like revel in it *winks*  sexuality, submissive women, slavery are a central theme in every book.  It is a part major of gorean culture.

Thats why I am absolutly pro roleplay limits as long as they do not touch the heart of what Gor is. A Kajira that has the roleplay limit "I will not obey to the order of any male" can not play Gor, because Gor is about male domination. thank you to all, that you pointed this out clearer in the end*smiles...hm..ok I hope my english will carry me through this now...
As you said pomegranate we ALL did choose to play gorean rp and so we agreed to the harsh world we are in while we rp. But you decided to be a slave and agreed to the terms of your role as you see it, it is your point of view, your decision as for anybody else. But be aware as in our rl-world you always will meet people with different sights. Others decided to be a Free, a Warrior whatever cuz they feel comfortable to play this role and feel fine not to have the submissive part of a slave in the gorean world..well...maybe they will need to play it while captured, surely not everything might fit to the wishes one might have in the first place but no problem, that's the way it goes.

But please differentiate as well - to rp means to meet so many different humans sticking behind their avatars and even if they love gor and love to rp it, they might have personal limits and we all should respect them. We can discuss if the limit xyz is due to gorean rp but it is as everywhere f. e. only cuz I said I want to join a certain group I don't have to say yes to everything they might do. If I learn to ride my bicycle there won't be a force to ride it downhill through the woods, cuz someone told this is the only and right way to ride it.

“Let us create a gorean subcontinent with Gorean sims of all kinds, all nations with one major goal: Getting closer together, learn to understand people and learn to deal with others, having fun by doing rp!“
This is the sentence which you can read in several posts and it became somehow a sort of motto. If anybody would be able to differentiate, to listen/read and be just a lil bit able to empathize Roll Eyes rp would have a chance to be fun for everybody who participate even if you aren't the one who dominates the situation.

I really appreciate those discussions, cuz that's the way to send views about gor (in sl) in the world some might not  have thought about, cuz they prefer to lay on the top *stifles a yawn ...and this believe about beeing the winner seems to be the only way for them to be satisfied in the end. Just for those people..believe me you surely miss a lot  Wink

Well, is it that difficult to accept all that could happen in the books ?

The best thing i ever read was in a warriors profile: No mutulation, no shavings, no collar, no death RP

NO COLLAR ? On Gor ? laughs...
NO DEATH ? On Gor ? laughs

I can accept that mutulation may be a personal no-go, and it doesnt happen in the books as far as i remember.

But the other things are things could happen to anyone on Gor.

I dont use profile information for RP, but if i read something like that in anyones profile, i would not RP with him/her except saying Tal or greetings.

Kaile laughs!

Doesn't allow death, collaring or shaving?

I really don't think such people should be allowed on a sim.  I'm sure he'd love to rape, collar and murder his way across the sim. So, why can't he take the same treatment back?!?

......... No shaving?!?!................... Can't get over that one......  Grin

I've just had my throat slit as payback for someone else's dispute. My death was a message to my city.  Undecided

Being my first death in Gor I was, to say the least, extremely angry about it but hey, I got through it. In a few hours I'll be alive again and trying to figure out how to RP coming back from the Cities of Dust. I was more angry that I'd been ambushed whilst already wounded (down to 30%) having just finished hunting down a sleen.

Most unsporting, I say!   Wink

giggles..Master, who said Gor is sporty and fair ? grins

And to be back on topic, i would say that a captured person doesnt have the right to demand RP. He/She is captured and will get Rp when the capturer has time. Period.
He/she could use Im to talk with friends, could build, or ask the capturer to leave to elsewhere until the capturer has time to play. The last thing would be what i would ask for.

And of course you cant join other Gorean RP in that time, you are in fact not there.

P.S: Forgot something. All who are dead, should remember that you cant use any information you had before your death to take revenge. Only if others of your tribe or group find a trace of what happened, they may take revenge. But not the former dead one. That would lead to endless killings and would be really really annoying :-)

I know of a person who was killed twice for the same thing as revenge. The first one was ok, cause the tribe did know what happened. (killing their En) .
But the second time its done..the person was dead, now it must be another one :-)

Well, is it that difficult to accept all that could happen in the books ?
This is what I say an this is what The girl said before in a to me perfect sentence:
We choose to rp in Gor, we choose to play out a fantasy of a world where rape, abuse, kidnapping is not unusual, but actually a social norm.  I play a slave and expect this kind of treatment, it is the role I chose to play.  It is a consequence that I am aware of and still choose to roleplay.  If you find rape and slavery offensive and morally wrong, perhaps gor isn't for you.

To me tis is as I said a question of depth to go in, in such a situation. Rapes, captures, even death happens that's Gor!
It is way to do it depends on the agreement of all involved RPers.

The best thing i ever read was in a warriors profile: ...
* Guru Randwick laughs: There's so much nonsense written in those profiles, even in the slave papers. (It is to discuss if slave papers make sense at all, anyhow, it is in another thread ...) Things like: "This Kajira is not allowed to be punished unless to her Master's will". Ok, maybe that Master will take actions if done so, but any Kajira can be punished everywhere by any Free, if there is a reason to do this, due to the punishing Masters appraisal! Want a laugher? I once met a Kajira on the Wastelands who denied to be on her knees, not in nadu not in tower. When I told her this is not Gor she should leave the sims she argued with her profile and said she cannot kneel it would be against her political convictions in RL ...

Yes Master, fully agree. Any Free can punish any slave if he/she wants. Perhaps my Mistress would react, but in most cases she wouldnt, i am sure:-)

Laughs. That is really funny. Its too good to be bad..laughs.

I can imagine her in a SL Police, running around Gor Sims and sending abuse reports about every Gorean Free who uses a kajira (sexual assault ) , or sells one (slave trade ), or rapes a panther (Rape)..grins.
