So Outlaws and panthers, groups that are generally supposed to be Paraha of society, would actually avoid large social Communities?  and Mercs will Not go where they are Hired?  So we have two groups who will then follow the Precepts of what thier Group is... and another who will Ignore it...

See if Panthers are forces NOT to be able to walk into Cities in nothing but a feather and call everyone they meet Male... that is what I call Progress... and if the Merc groups ISN'T going to follow the Money... then why do we want them anyway..

Oh and For the Record, Minus is a great place for a panther to come... IN DISGUISE... and make arrangements to dispose of a Prisoner.  My sim, Ft saphronicus has a Trading post where panthers are free to come as they are and deal... So drop that foolish line right now

..... Not that it matters there are no nothern sims that dare to engage in combat with the southern sims... maybe LCS is the little shouderpat of imbalance they need...

Funny that you should mention that.  During the whole Temple Wars RP, there were rumors that many southern sims were getting ready to invade the North, and guess what?  It never happened!  Every Torvie that pledged his sword to Cathal, High Jarl of Torvaldsland, was ready, willing, and able to face the onslaught.  You know who actually did engage?  Treve, and Treve alone.  And we all know that didn't end well, because of cheaters.  One of the issues was with a sword that wasn't on approved weapons lists.  If the LCS had been used at the time, there would have been no issue because ALL weapons are legal with the LCS.

Not that example again. I agree, the sword wasnt on the approved list and some of the Warriors didnt bother to check. However, the sword had been tested and proved well within parameters, or we wouldnt use it in the first place. There were only one or two Warriors who even used the sword in that raid, as far as i am aware, and that would not be the reason for the 15 of us kicking the 25 of you's asses.. twice. The reason we won was because half of your guys didnt use their shield/dodge and as it happened you were faced with 15 men who were training extensively in that period for the upcoming First Sword tournament we were having. We all were spending 2-3 hours a day in the arena for several weeks. So please, for the love of God, stop using this half assed excuse that you lost because we cheated.

I never said I was blaming our loss on that sole incident.  The point was that with LCS, it would not have mattered what sword who had during that battle.  The main issue was that nobody bothered to read the raid rules prior to that attack, and Treve had more than a week to do so.  But, alas, that wasn't really the point I was getting to.....by and large, the South was letting the temple raids happen without consequence.  Treve was the only southern sim to stand up to it, and even then, Treve's involvement in it was rigged, seeing as how they built a temple for with the express purpose of getting sacked by Torvies and therefore giving Treve a reason to get involved.  For what its worth, the Temple Wars was a good plot to RP and I enjoyed it.  Unfortunately, it started to take on the appearance of a Gorean Religious Jihad, and that's when Ironhall pulled out.

Can we please go back to the original topic, which was about LCS.
Certain rp/battles have been discussed enough and there is no need to reheat those.
Thank you

Oh gosh yes...

LCS allows weapons from anywhere to be used, just takes the small change of the gesture/animation to one typed *example* /1draw sword.  Means you get to use the prims/look/animation movement of the weapon.and the LCS meter handles the damage/range/timing of it.

So if you had this super kewl looking skulls dangling everywhere sword you just love, that is scripted to work on other meters in a medieval or fantasy second life sims, you could use it on LCS.

LCS handles the meter damage/range/timing of the weapon.

Means for those who like to play in multiple sims such as fantasy, etc.  come back to a gor sim with LCS, they don't have to change out their favorite sword, bow, spear etc. It works in a gorean sim with LCS.

I hope LCS does not become the latest example of better technology losing out to the competition for reasons we all regret much later. Do you "oldtimers" remember how VHS beat out betamax when it came to video recording/playing back then. I remember how 8 track tapes were beating out cassette players when there was no reason in heaven or hell why 8 tracks should have lived on as long as they did.

LCS really seems to be quite an advantage over GM.   I will raise the issue in my homestone.

You cant beat training and I always train every day in all weapons before I start my roll play. So if I am going to get kicked down by a warrior who does not train every day but spends most the time in the furs then I am sorry I am not for this meter at all.

Gold and Steel

That Pretty much covers any Meter...

you get someone with a Fast computer on a Good day and you are toast, be thay old hands or newbees... Sorry pal, but these things happen no matter the meter

Fast Computers are a part of life but even on a shitty old one I had to use when my Gaming laptop went to shit I still managed to beat most shitty players, and there are people with shitty PCs who can beat me on my Gaming laptop so honestly the Computer DOES NOT make that big of an impact if you practice at things

Personally, I wouldn't mind going back to the totally random die roll for combat, but I'm sure that's a bias fostered by coming from an AD&D background.  Its also how online RP combat was done back in the text-based days.  I believe there is even a meter out there that does use such a system and I think its use would foster better RP.

Rayzor.... YES YES YES AND DID I SAY? FUCK YES. As a D&D player for the past 12+ years of my life I to am for a Dice Only system and would work with a Scripter to help design one if i thought enough sims would jump on the band wagon but sadly to meny WANT the PEW PEW Combat even though they deny it. As long as you have a combat meter no matter what you think. Its mearly a Hack and Slash game Clicky Clicky with some emotes after the fight.

Settings giving advantage based on a avatar build and class are a heaven for people who couldnt realy stand their ground in GM and now they are asking for more advantages just so they can play their game.

I agree, I wasn't the best blade but i wasn't the worse you need if you are going to go with a combat meter everything to be balanced minus the men/women/beast part, because Warriors weren't born with skill, Torvaldslanders weren't born knowing how to wield an axe, Assassins weren't born knowing how to stalk there mark in the night. GM Meter Reflects that. You cant simply pick up a weapon and expect to be good and in my using of LCS I have seen as I agree with Ron this happens a lot. Also I find a lot of the pushers for LCS aren't even giving me vaild reasons for switching some, Whom I will not name have said they

Refuse to use a meter made by a slave.

as i posted in another thread that's like me refusing to RP with my Slave girl who is from the Schedni because shes "Not white" (I used the racist word in the other thread to illustrate how ABSURD that reasoning is but apparently I offended people)

Again Its not broke don't fix it

Oh and on another note, as pointed out earlier the meter doesn't In pact Sim performance significantly

you all arguing that its a less laggy meter need i point out that most LCS sims also have Script counters and Limit the amount of scripts one can wear? This is in ALOT of other RP and combat sims now and I suggest ALL Sims use this idea. Though I do fine in a lagged out sim cause i have practiced at it. I did MCM/BTCM for ages anyone else who has done it can vouch that shit was laggy as fuck when the shooting started

That is true. The biggest lag on a sim is caused by AOs, slave-collars and a bunch of people that forget to remove resize scripts in their 100 prim kilts and hair.

GM or LCS barely has an influence on that... If you bring 40 people on a sim and make them engage in combat so their avatars will all converge to about the same area, you'll be causing lag. Major lag, that would even happen if nobody was wearing any meters at all.

Well said Anarch, A good way to cut back on lag is using phoenix's built in ao system and you could use it with a slave collar as well with a little typing into a Notecard and simpley Role play being leashed
