I have a question about how slaves can great the Free.  Is it alright for a slave to say, for instance, 'greeings Regent," if s/he knows the Free's title?  I have seen contradictory information on this, so any thoughts on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

I think that "Greeting Master Regent" would be more appropriate. Think about it, if you say "Greeting Regent", you seem to speak to him in a somewhat equal term; there is still some respect in the fact you use the title, but not the kind of respect and submission you are expecting from a slave.

I think when in doubt, ignore the title alltogether.  Greetings (or Tal) Master.

If in doubt, simplify

You would never say "Greetings Master Regent". Only use the title (if you know it) or Master, not both.

There is not Tal Master >insert title here<. Its only Tal Master or Tal Mistress for a slave.

Should always be Tal or Greetings Master/Mistress.
I kinda agree with Heaven on all of Tal's that go on, but, I don't think it can be helped.  Many use it as a way to break into rp....so...Tal ya'll  Wink

You'd only address someone by title to show respect. Who the hell cares if a slave respects you or not? Slaves should just stick with Master or Mistress unless this Regent orders them to use the title instead. If we must Tal each other to death, let's at least keep it simple.

Yep.. never never never by title unless told to do so.

“Please, my Ubar,” said she, “let me stay.”
“I am not your Ubar,” I said. “I am your master.”
“Please, Master,” she begged, “let Telima stay.”

A Gorean slave, incidentally, always addresses free men as ‘Master,’ and all free women as ‘Mistress.’” — Captive of Gor, Page 73*

“The slave addresses all free men as ‘Master’ and all free women as ‘Mistress.’” — Prize of Gor, Page 295.*

Lets just keep it nice and simple...   Wink

One of my Favorites quotes, while not quite Gorean, is certainly something to ponder
