Myself and a few mates have got together to set rules for red caste that will suit all gorean sims and give some kind of sence to what we do, well actually its to make it easier for us to do our thing and make loads of folk join our caste

you know it soooooo hard to be a red caste these days, when you go raiding, everyone uses radar to see your coming and where you are, and as soon as you down someone the group chat is screaming *I   AM DOWN* and so when you try and bind someone everyone is shooting at you, and it just a total nightmare.

so i would like to suggest a solution, we can all put our bind emotes on hotkeys, that way those of us that dont like to roleplay or take any chances can pump out a 3 binds and continue with the pew pew

no one will mind beause we can obviously as red caste decide what is best for us and the hell with the sim rules

i personally am tired of being downed while binding, just because its meant to represent me doing something other than fighting and therefore distracted

in fact as a red caste i think we are unfairly treated in gor, there are so few of us and the reason seems to be we are expected to roleplay being reds, how unfair is that,

so i am suggesting we put all our roleplay on a few bind buttons, thats right everything, drinking paga, one button, furring a slave second button and reasons for raiding a third button

talking for reasons for raiding i also think if asked we should not tell the sim admins that we are raiding the reason for our raid, too many these days demand you have some reason and dont just make one up because we all know we actually raid because we dont like the buggers ooc

this will also make sure there is no ooc blacklash against anyone like the ubar that ordered the raid, how could we possibly ask the ubar to deal with that like a grown up, much better to keep it hushed up

i am going to go around all the sim owners to have these new rules adopted, i am sure they will all agree after all they are only sim owners and are too dumb to know all about red caste like i do, after all i spent 3 months filling out NCs about stuff and i know better

after all the reasons for the sims being there is because of me, without me the sims would fold totally

soooooo, honour and steel and the reds are best and everyone else sucks

In my personal opinion all those emotes during combat are ridiculous and pointless. They take away from the smoothness and immersion of raiding and combat.

Imagine the Lord of the Rings movies with binding and disarming emotes?
Slaying bunch of orcs and then standing still... *SL typing sounds* ... "Gandalf the great ties your ankles together..." *1 minute or more SL typing sound* "Gandalf the great ties your legs together with a few knots..."

But that is just my personal odd view Smiley

And if you think BCs have it bad being meta-gamed, try being an outlaw... Tongue

Main problem is you dont want to be pressing the wrong key when furring removing the girls head when you meant her silks

Could be sticky that (pun intended)

and Bahh to Red Caste all they do is fur their slaves , drink Paga , chat up the FW on the sly and stand on the battlements posing dramatically...........................................................................................why does that sound familiar ?

Those binding emotes are not pointless, insomuch as the meter is equally pointless.  You bind someone for the sake of the meter, that's all.  You bind the unconcious person so they dont wake up and shoot you in the backside.

As for the uselessness of bind emotes, you ARE vunerable while tying someone up.  If we accept the fact that someone recently rendered unconcious by several sword strikes to the head can pop back up out of unconciousness and run full speed and with full accuracy at someone else...  then the binding emotes are a part of the combat RP experience.  Just as much as leave posts, grapple posts, etc etc ad nauseum.

Really, I've said this before and I'll say this again.  SL is a lousy platform for a FPS.  Go play a custom Halo map if all you want is the combat without the aspect of RP.  And hey, there are plenty of guys playing that!  I think Halo's "traffic numbers" are rather high

FW cussing at meter combat and telling guys to go play Halo instead...

Nice. Roll Eyes

In my experience the BtB guys that focus a reasonable amount of time on their combat skills with the meter are also the ones that put effort into their RP, their characters and any storylines.

In contrast you'll find plenty of opposite examples in Btb guys in more "safe zone"-regulated sims, claiming they are much more into RP, standing around spouting one-liners in their attempts to punish every slave-girl on their radar that is not kneeling or collar every FW of their own city that ever dared disagree with them. Being the big strong gorean men with their chain of OOC restricted meerkat kajiras, but then go cry in their pillows when another guy gives them a beating in combat.

I think you Reds have it too easy, Vido.  I mean all you have to do is throw on a black outfit with a teeny bit of red in it, call each other "Brother" and you're in.  Tongue

I think you all need some new rules too, you know to keep the fake ones out.

1) non recognized Red Caste (ie those that didn't graduate from a war college with a rigorous training program lasting 3-6 months RL) will be persecuted and hunted into oblivion by the rest of the "real" warriors.

2) Red Caste who are not recognized (ie on the Red Caste Registry) will be treated as griefers and their RP will be invalidated.

3) in order for a Red Caste to kill someone they must first have a minimum of three separate days of RP on that person's sim, plus they must warn their intended target via the mark of the black paga bowl on their foreheads, which must be emoted at least once in the presence of their target.  In fact the Warrior might as well say "I'm going to kill you now, but first let me count to ten and give you a running head start before I do".

4) No more of this 1:1 or even 2:1 combat ratio stuff.  The second a Red Caste is on sim he will be followed around by everyone else and converged on the moment he unsheaths his
sword.  7:1 or 8:1 even is now fair odds for the home sim.

5) if the Red Caste does not notecard everything he does, including taking a drunken piss on the side of the Scribery, and present this to the moderator then all of his RP is invalid.

I dont think the emotes for binding are pointless either.  Here is my reason, why in the name of the Priest Kings are we stopping to bind someone while active combat is going on?  If you stop in the middle of battle you make yourself a target.  Yes, I know the meter timer is running and the guy might get up, so why not have a couple of men assigned to binding men that are down and who would be responsible for knocking a guy down who has recovered.
One other point, if you want combat to be more realistic why not set up something so that when you are downed you are out of the fight?  In RL, you get hit by an arrow or take a sword cut, it is gonna hurt, and most times you will be incapicitated.  This is one of the things that bothers me about combat is having downed someone or being downed yourself then several minutes later, up and running again.

randal we have a 10 month trianing progamme mate, its all on two hotkeys, and if you for one second think if i turn up in fina and dont get followed around your kidding, but i will paint a red penis on my forehead that gives me a free pass in the door mate, and triad i have my sheep emotes in binds, so if i remove her head i got lamb chops, cant lose

fyi the next raid we are dong is being preceeded by 6 weeks of rp not three days

we are going to do a lot more than down someone press three keys call a tarn and feck off

rigerous? try 26 weeks basic trianing or a months university thats rigetous, six or seven NCs of hanging around a sim is not rigerious mate

and i dont call anyone brother unless we had the same mother or father

red caste not on the registry i.e. a city group often get trated as outlaws "name and homestone" are the first thing we are asked and the codes say we cant lie ((we do a lot but mainly to the wife))

we cant run around kiling woman and kids and slaves to get our rocks off

and their are not many of us, we dont churn then out by the dozen, and i have never seen an assasin unsheath his sword when  teh odds are 7.1 that would be fecking dumb wouldnt it now, that asassin should get his nuts handed to him on a plate

no i am far more used to watching 8 black caste taking on 5 reds of sais and getting thier nuts handed to them and two banned for refusing binds and one for iseing griefing tools, if that was my group i would kick them out, but as i have said previously my standards are high  Roll Eyes

Vido. Count me in, it is time the red caste does something. but the training program should be 12 months not 10... that way we leave out the newly formed alts for just raiding pew pew... and focus on long term rp.
