This talk of branching off for kurii rp makes it sound as if the potential for developing rp has stagnated among existing characters. I would argue that just the opposite is true - characters are grossly underdeveloped and so the plot suffers.
In time this will happen, after cities and rp-ers develop their identities. But SL Gor is about halfway through 'Tarnsman' in terms of development. Skipping ahead to throw kurii in the mix would premature and add superfluous complexity.
Too late. It's all ready happened. There are over 12 Kurii that I know of. It may have gone up to 16, but they exist, they are there and have been for months. At least five months I have known about.
No one can say no to what another person wishes to do. Just not feasible, not right, and not fair.
And no one is following any set time line on the books of Norman. I'm just grateful no one is pulling out the gunpowder from the last book. I really do not wish to see that in gor. It will happen, and will just have to face it when the time comes. But for now, I'll live in blissful ignorance in my tropical Island with the jits and nit wits and the not-the-mamas that roam about... sipping my mojito I stole from Nizmo.
