When people are RPing, trying to keep up with the speed that others are playing, or just simple errors, people often correct the mistakes they may have made with an asterix.

I myself, will admit I am completely anal about how my spelling is presented in RP, and I go back to correct any mistakes, even the simplest ones.

My question to everyone is What are your thoughts on people who correct their RP? do you find it acceptable, or does it ruin the mood?

Thankyou

I do that too, James. It depends though. If I did do a mispelling such as: "My SCRoll is really presious." Then well, I might not correct is, since you can make sense of it. However if it's like: "My scll is preasous." Then, yeah, I'll definitely correct that.

I wouldn't correct this though: "My scroll is preccciouusssss"

I don't mind when others do it and I am guilty of it when my error changes my meaning or its a really bad error as Cor mentioned above.

i think it is fine in sense of using the proper term..
when i write sometimes my mind is three lines ahead and i will slip up a word, i would not correct it if it wasn't pertinent to an action.

ex:
[09:52 PM]  Atom (atomic.merryman) walked back around to face her and took the whip up to her mouth and slit the leather across her lips.. "these lips are mine, they speak to me the things you may hear, without fail.." his glare at her was still cast in seriousness as he stepped back away from her..
[09:52 PM]  Atom (atomic.merryman): slid*

in that case i would do it to clearify the slit=slid

but if it were a case of the word 'the' getting spelled like 'teh' then i would skip it.

and no i dont find it to ruin the mood of the rp at all.

I'm guilty of it too, and it doesn't bother me when others do it....unless they misspell the word they are trying to correct several times.

It depends on how many * I have to make. Sometimes when I get lost in the rp completely I could write on forever. and just cringe looking back at it.

I will usually try to correct a spelling mistake before I post, and will sometimes use the asterix.  Like Reven, sometimes I will get into the flow of the rp and well...shit happens.  I do not get upset over others misspellings and corrections or lack thereof.  Many do not have english as their native tongue, people get typing fast and make mistakes...again, shit happens.  I prefer that everything is correct in the typing, but as long as we can understand each other, its all good.

I just accept it as a correction and nothing more. My brain goes check and moves on.

I don't do it for simple typos and things like that. But I do it when the meaning might not be clear to the other players.

I typically will not go back and correct spelling errors.  I think all of the OOC correcting takes away from the flow of the rp anyways.  Now.. if it is a gross mistake that requires correcting so that people will be able to decipher my typonese-codes, then I will post some sort of correction.  I make far too many mistakes at times to correct them all xD

Don't go back and fix it - just keep going please.  I find it to be a distraction.  If you made a mistake it's no big deal - I get the idea of what you meant.  That goes for IMming me to correct your mistake as well - don't do it in open chat, don't do it in IM.

We are all fluent at reading typonese.   Like most I am harder on my own mistakes then I am on others who make spelling errors. Most times if they start to correct I will say 'Hey make a deal with you, I will over look your mistakes if you over look mine.'  That seems to help a lot.
