Vendors were at eachother's throats for spots in the Clearchus market and had no issues to pay up to 500L a week for some of the bigger stalls. It all depends on the design of your market... And the popularity of your sim, as well as how well known the name is...

I may be caught a little vulnerable in my argument seeing as Cyprianus is only a few months old. However I do think that sim costs should be as high as freakin' possible, so people would stop opening them. There are way too many sims in Gor and not enough people.

You are a sim owner I take it

Thank you.  This is important point.  It's not just about the price, mall space is advertising space. If you own a business, what are you willing to do for your business?  How much are you willing to pay out? Money makes money.  In my long example there, even what I gave did not cover the whole sim cost, but spreading the cost around will help alleviate some of the risk and cost for the sim owner.  I just think it's the right thing to do.

We call these places our home stones, a lot of people spend hours at a time, some never leave to travel. They are traffic for the owner,  a draw of potential newcomers when they bring their friends, etc.  Asking them to invest a few lindens a week to pay for their house and letting them furnish their own shop might seem counterproductive to keeping someone who already does so much for the sim already, but it's actually not. When someone invests in their own experience, they are going to stay longer. By charging rents, you are asking people to invest in your sim, in you, in their home stone. And the people who can, will. The people who can't, will use the donation buckets.

OK, then unless someone is independantly wealthy the idea of making sim costs higher makes no sense. What makes sense is people contributing to thier home. That makes sense not saying raise prices.

Upto now, in about 2 and a half years, i have maybe spent 20 Euro all together for my two chars. especially for animations and skins. but i have also give quite a large amount to the tip jar on one of the most beautiful sims i had ever seen (which some days ago, unfortunately has been closed down  Sad).

it should be normal to do this, even if one is not obliged to do so. people are spending too much money for silly stuff like the 95th silk for a kajira ecc.

when reading the title i first thought of donations for rl matters (relay for life ecc). this however, imo is a bit useless. what do 5 linden help? very little

I will also put in a shameless plug for people to donate towards maintaining this web site. Laja does this because she wants to but that does not mean we can help out to whatever degree is possible. On the right side of the "Home" page is a "Pay Pal" button to make a contribution.

I would rebuttle , do not ask what your homestone can do for you, but what you can do for your homestone.
