An odd trend is developing this last two weeks or so, I’ve had a few of my male friends mention they miss roleplaying with other men.  Bro time I guess.  Just like in RL guys like to hang with guys.

In RP though it’s even more important as some storylines require another male participant.

Although I have quite a few ideas and have been trying to set up “blind dates” so that my male friends can meet each other  Cheesy  I realize I’m missing the necessary equipment to really fully understand what they want or need.

So guys… how about it?  Do you enjoy roleplaying with other men?  Do you miss your bro time?  What types of scenes or stories would you like to have with other guys?

I tossed up a few ideas in the poll and it allows up to 5 votes so you can pick your top 5.  Please feel free to expand on that in comments or toss out other suggestions.

Only vote if you play a male character please

Not sure I'd say this is a recent trend.  But perhaps it's time for those that are in need of more quality "bro" time get off your slave, put down that useless FW, come up with an idea, walk into the tavern and and see how many get up and follow you.

It's funny, the three guys in particular that I've been talking to this week don't have slaves or companions.
Perhaps that's why they notice it?
Guys looking around for a guy to make a deal with, talk shop with, get drunk with, hire, etc.  It's not easy apparently.

Caste Training/Being Hired for a task or caste work

At Dagger Island there are close to 15 Assassins there. We tend to hang together in the camp, it’s as close to a home we will ever have. Were are all pretty close and role-play quite a lot together. I love that about BC camps.

Why isn't there more political intrigue in SL gor?   I was actually talking to an owner of a sim involving that other RP genre that has hit the grid like wildfire and they said "We are different from Gor because of the political intrigue." Of course I silently raised my eyebrow because it seems to be all through the books. But I don't here about any wide scale RP with that theme.  I would think you men would love political intrigue. *shrugs*

I really don't know either. Gorean sims and groups always seem to have taken an approach that stated: "No conflict RP within the same group/sim." <-- Which makes sense where sim longevity is concerned.

All the other RP genres that thrive on conflict RP on the same sim usually seem to die out after a few months because people throw OOC-hissyfits over having lost the RP. Having lost the political intrigue etc. It's the same I'm predicting to happen to GoT sims that promote conflict RP within the same sim...

I can't explain it. Conflict RP is like playing chess I guess, if you didn't win you'll feel like you wanna beat up the smug bastard on the other side of the board. I know I had the feeling often when I lost kickbox matches, but I didn't really feel motivated to beat up the other guy anymore after losing a match, because he just had beaten me up already.  Cry

@Anarch I had a little plan to start "whispering" things into the ears of your Regent of Clearchus (of course you or Bella would have been able to read the chat, LOL). But I was dying to stir the pot so to speak.

GOR is the one of the most politically motivated genre I know and I have often been part of it

one or two issues however...

continuity... having all those involved keep up the storyline, very hard when a key player suddenly disappears for a few days

interpretation .. outsiders assuming there is an OOC agenda, especially when one person becomes the focal point for a devious and evil outcome

So it seems Weapons training ranks pretty high, I imagine this is more OOC sparring than RP training of weapons?

Do you guys like random "Hey let's spar?" or some organized/scheduled times or even tournaments?

Interesting to see Caste mentoring and training and being hired for caste work is ranking so high as well.
Any of you guys want to elaborate or give examples of scenarios you enjoy playing out?

Raiding
Patrolling/Guard duty
Nemesis
Training/Sparring

Having a great rp nemesis is something I miss.  I have that in other rp themes, but so far not in Gor.  It's great fun to have a guy that you are oocly friendly with, but icly you are looking to stick a knife in his back.  *sighs*  I miss sticking knives in peoples backs Undecided

Part of the draw of being warrior and such is that mindless combat aspect.  I always got a sense of pride when had a new player and start taking him through the ropes of tweaking settings and showing him the quirks of SL combat.  Then after while of beating when he starts kicking my butt....yeah I take pride in that.
Then you have team work of learning to work with a small group and how to fight together, learning that John often runs head long into fray and favours sweeping around to his left, learning best tactics and skills of where person will do the best in a given situation.  For myself it is a lot of observation and running scenarios in my head as I watch others do their thing....yeah I think too much.

Some of the best bro-time had in game has been mentoring few players in caste codes and ideology of warrior.  Telling stories and explaining the heart of the matters, from Ven perspective, of certain codes and why things are the way they are.  Things like why we do not actually collar every woman in sight even though most belong in them, or appropriate scenarios to issue or accept challenges.

I am not a big fan of tournaments myself.  I do like a balance of random spur of the moment sparring and having more organized group training where you try and get as many of men together as possible for fun and planning of things.
