In the summer of 1853, Native American George Crum was employed as a chef at an elegant resort in Saratoga Springs, New York. One dinner guest found Crum's French fries too thick for his liking and rejected the order. Crum decided to rile the guest by producing fries too thin and crisp to skewer with a fork. The plan backfired. The guest was ecstatic over the browned, paper-thin potatoes, and other diners began requesting Crum's potato chips

That's because I was joking... ha....ha...and....ha... But Bear Gryills did drink his own pee when he was in Australia... Nevermind the spiders, they have poisonous snakes, scorpions, blood sucking bats and those koala bears are man eaters.

and that's just on the land... you go to the beach you got a whole new set of problems like the blue ring octopus, among others.  again any given time, any given location, like a dozen very imminent and feasible ways to die.  culture fascinates me, the locale scares the hell out of me
