I propose instead of a list of names, a list of SIMS with LMs is created, its hard to explain why you went to see killer A ICly when you never met, yet you know his name his location and his shoe size. But, with a list of just sims that are known to have trained killers, again trained, not approved trained killers, a person have look it over, see a sim that he has a legit IC reason to go visit and look about the city until he can find some way to contact these killers.

Are people that spasticated they need a  list of sims and LM's too find a  Assassin or  what ever they are looking for?
Whats next they need  a  list of places they can have a shit next?

What did people do before the list?
They found them in rp just like always ffs this list crap is getting out of order.

If you look at this list: a lot of killers are "wandering" that means they are playing alts and if they get in the mood to scare people they play the killer avatar. On Gor you would ask for a killer camp for example or would meet a killer by chance who is hanging around in a city and who wear the colors of his caste.

But SL Gor is not Gor. And to avoid jerks and idiots this list was useful.

In the last book JN introduced The Black Court, where Goreans would come to do business with the Black Caste. Hence Goreans would know where to find the caste so no form of list is needed.  Myself I will be working on having a Court in Tarn's Rest that will work with several other Assassins I know to be on the Court.

I find it curious as to how this constantly seems to come up in conversation.  Maybe I missed the "big blow up" over "the list" but the fact that it seems to be all you hear about these days makes me curious.

There are not THAT many active gorean sims that anyone should need a list of "x marks the spot" locations.  Hell it could even be part of your IC to actually...idk..have to search and find a killer.  Parish the thought, I know right!  Actual WORK to take care of yo business, horrible.  It just still seems silly to me.  I propose actually doing the leg work yourself  Shocked, who knows what amazing things you will find along the way rather than cutting out half your adventure by....going by a list :/

Ok so I think everyone knows about the big blow out that happened recently when we lost several members and several others talked of leaving. I assume you all know for we are all adults, and Adults are as bad as any 16 yr old School girl I have ever seen for Gossip. Grin

Well one of the major issues that caused it was the infamous "List" and how it was misused. And yes folks it was misused, on both sides. But I know Xaz never made it with the intent for it to be. I also know I for one found it useful on a couple of occasions to start an IC tracking to find a, and this part is very important folks, trained not an approved killer but a trained one I find the BC training to be good on the overall and find those who have completed it to usually (Not always) provide a superior Killer rp.

Now sadly its simply true as long as there is a list of Names of Trained Killers, people will abuse it as a list of approved killers, this is where the....I guess you would call it outrage, comes in. While some are choosing to blame this Person or that person, this rule or that rule. I think it is simply just time for a change of how we do things, alot of SL Gor has evolved since its start, so why not this too?

I propose instead of a list of names, a list of SIMS with LMs is created, its hard to explain why you went to see killer A ICly when you never met, yet you know his name his location and his shoe size. But, with a list of just sims that are known to have trained killers, again trained, not approved trained killers, a person have look it over, see a sim that he has a legit IC reason to go visit and look about the city until he can find some way to contact these killers.

I suggested this concept once before but it was shot down, and in my opinion only because others saw it as me hopping on the bandwagon of killer hate. Well now that things have calmed down I ask again, Why can this concept not work? This is a List only for those outside of the Caste mind you who would not have access to fellow killers to ask, HEY wheres Xaz at these days? for an example.

I welcome any and all thoughts so long as they are constructive to the discussion.

Drevan - This idea isn't "bad".  We'll have a Black Court facility setup in Brundisium Pass when it opens... and I know, that seems to be the question of the day based on the messages in world I've gotten.  By my best guestimate, it'll be yet another week (aggressive estimate) to 2 weeks (more likely).  It seems every time I put some timeframe on it, that day comes and slips away, so I'm taking up the habit of saying "Soon!" instead.

Have a list of sims where folks can find a particular role/caste is not so bad.  I think it's a lot better than the OOC and unintentional meta-gaming that the lists of "Assassin X at Sim Y" can have.

Book 30 gave us a very cool reference that supports getting rid of this entire "list" mentality, so I'll share it here since it applies to the OP and the larger issue:

Quote
I saw that this did not much please Demetrion. The business of the Black Court was not one in which men lightly dabbled. In many cases one was not even sure who was, and who was not, a member of the black caste.

~ Mariners of Gor, Chapter 36

We do know that Brundisium is the location where this Court resided and I'm looking forward to the release of the next book with some anticipation that it may reveal the links between the City of Brundisium and the siege of Ar from earlier in the novels.

Not to hijack the thread... nice looking sim T.

As far as the Black Court, not a fan of it.

I am thinking about having a meeting about starting a meeting to set up a meeting to vote on whether or not to have a meeting in the first place.

I can read OOCly cause ICly I would not be able to, so fortunately this must be an OOC forum!
