Do you know this killer in your roleplay or is he a Stranger?  How does this 'stranger' know you are a candidate in roleplay?

Not everyone in SL Gor wearing "black" is of the caste of assassins these days where fashion over-rules any requirements for caste colors it seems.

Let that be your guide in how you conduct that roleplay exchange.  You MIGHT consider giving the killer an IM as a courtesy but if you are looking to stay immersed in roleplay and take it as it comes, then simply play on.

Agreed. Unless you have IC history with the querent and consider them as someone who you would trust, treat them as potentially hostile, even if they claim to be MA of the location you're in, or an MA in general. It don't matter. Take no risks.

The locations of the black caste camps

Okay just so I'm clear...you're asking if it's ok to disclose the location of your camp to another killer who is...of your own camp?  (scratches his head).

As for ones who aren't of your own camp, as Taog said not everyone in Gor who wears black is a killer.  Also not all who wear black are your friends, killer, outlaw or otherwise.  I would advise caution and simply get to know that person before telling them anything as opposed to outright lying.

OOC-wise you can be sure the Black Caste groups will light up the moment you mention about a Black Caste you are not familiar with. It has happened before, someone will contact his group that he saw someone in Black sniffing around and then everyone is joining the chat and trying to get information on the guy, whether he is legit or not. It's just a "anti-fraud" measure and it has worked pretty well.

IC what Raven said , just ask alot of questions before you start answering any.

The question came about from here, a Training NC Sol did for my camp:

Tal Lads.

It has come to my attention that some clarity is required regarding the subject - "As Black Caste Candidates, should we reveal information about our Task business to other Castes or even other Black Caste Assassins, while actively engaged on a said task?"

The simple answer is No! No! And No!

As a Gorean you would have learnt about the infamous secrecy that is held by the Black Caste through bedtime tales told to you by your fathers, by the attempts to put fear into the very pores of your friends while sat around evening camp fires or by listening to the slurred mumblings of drunkards in seedy Gorean Taverns.

I have no doubt at all that any Black Caste Candidate would already know without being told, “that which is shared by the Black Caste, stays with the Black Caste.” The Candidate would be far too fearful of making any stupid mistakes in the eyes of his new taskmasters, to risk letting slip even the most insignificant pieces of information.

As an example –

[00:00]  Slobodan Mecockyabitch: “Well met Solomon.  I am Slobodan, a Warrior of Cardonicus. So tell me – Where do you hail from?”

[00.00]  Solomon Voss lifts a hand, gesturing vaguely toward the East  -  “The Mountains of Hochburg, Warrior” – says the Black Caste Candidate, plainly.

The location of any Black Caste camp, NO MATTER HOW VAGUE the description, is highly classified information, the same goes for all internal workings of the Black Caste. This should be plainly obvious to all those who seek Black Caste training from the outset. I am sure a candidate would rather point in the opposite direction to that of his training camp and lie through his teeth.

You remember, do you not, how difficult it was to even find a Black Caste and then to risk your life in asking him to train you? If we were to recruit Lads by the book, you would never have found those sombre fellows to ask such a question and if you did, you would be lucky to still be breathing after asking it... The Black Caste finds you and determines your worth, not the other way around.

General Guidelines for Candidates who are on a Task to follow:

1. You are not yet a Black Caste Assassin so do not dress as one. A disguise is a good idea.
2. Do not give away any information regarding the Black Caste to anyone.
3. Never give your true name, give a “Use Name”.
4. Do not claim to be a Black Caste Candidate or that you are of the Caste. If asked, misdirect and lie  about your true identity.
5. If a Killer knows that you are “On Task” do not talk openly with him about your mission.
6. If a Killer does not know you are “On Task” ask to talk with him privately if his presence is endangering the success of your Mission.
7. Do not leave your task until it is completed, even if it’s a Black Caste Assassin who orders you to leave, for he is wrong to ask such a thing and you would rather die first.

General Guidelines for Black Caste Assassins:

1. Never prevent a Candidate from completing his task – Nothing is more important than allowing him to do his work.
2. Leave any judgements regarding the Candidates behaviour displayed and noted by others, until he returns to camp following his task completion.
3. If the Candidate is arrested and threatened with execution due to overzealous actions, he will be left to the laws of that land. It is up to the Candidate to argue his own case, to save his own life or escape.  If he fails to convince his captors to lessen his punishment and is put to death, his task is deemed a failure and the City laws in this case do our Caste favour by ridding us of a fool.

Black Caste Candidates are not Black Caste Assassins and therefore they cannot be granted the same respect nor can they be granted the same degree of loyalty from fully trained Black Caste Assassins. Black Caste Assassins should only intervene and aid other Black Caste Killers.
